Austin Dream Decks

Austin Dream Decks was hired to build two decks for us. We were scammed out of $2,960 for materials and labor and our project is still sitting at 60% complete. Mike Forbes owner was on site 4 1/2 days out of the two months. We continued to receive reasons why he could not be on site to work. Mike Forbes stated he would refund our money as of today we have received no communication nor refund. We had no other choice than to sue.

It's awesome. Our deck fits the yard and the house perfectly -- it's like they were designed together. Our only regret is that we didn't do it years ago!

I am thrilled with the work done by Mike Forbes. When I first contacted Austin Dream Decks all I knew for sure was that I wanted a deck. Mike came out the next day. He looked over my house and my yard and gave me some great ideas. The next day he emailed some design samples and I was hooked. His ideas were awesome. He came back out to the house, staked out the design in my yard and provided his costs which were well within my budget. He gave me a step-by-step schedule of how the project would be accomplished, answering all my questions in detail. It only took a few days to receive the required material (I chose a very popular conposite material). In the next few days, Mike started work and I went out of town. While I was gone, I received a daily email, with pictures, detailing what was done that day and what was planned for the next day. The work was expected to take a week. There were a few rain delays ( a good thing as we can always use the rain) and, since I was out of town there was no inconvenience to me. I returned home to a beautiful deck - better than I had imagined. Start to finish was about two weeks (thanks to the rain). -- A few words about Mike. I found him to be the consumate professional. I was completely comfortable with him working while I was gone. The quality craftmanship he demands of himself is evident in the results. He was clearly focused on ensuring I was completely comfortable with the process and pleased with the results. There were a few and quot;tweaksand quot; to be done and he came right out and took care of them. These were small things that could have been done more that one way and he waited for me to get home to discuss and decide. I couldn't be happier with the entire process, working with Mike, and the final product.

Mike and his crew are true craftsman, not contractors or deck builders. Their attention to detail exceeded my already high expectations.

Most deck builders can work with standard shapes, like octagons, squares, rectangles, and ovals, the craftsman at Austin Dream Decks were able to create our decks that were not even close to standard shapes or sizes and did it at a lower price than other contractors. In fact, most of the custom deck builders wouldn't even submit bids because of the odd shapes we had to work with, the ones who did bid were 40% higher than Austin Dream Decks.

The staff showed up ready to start work every day at 8 am, worked steady throughout the day and left the job 4pm or later. They came with all their own tools and supplies they needed.

When they left for the day they cleaned up the job site from dust, wood scraps, nails/screws, trash, etc., and put away electrical cords, saw horses, and organized thier tools for the next day’s use.

I guarantee you will not be able to find a better, more ethical/honest or more skilled craftsman at a fair price anywhere.

Great price and great work! They did avery good quality job and it was completed very quickly including cleaning up the site when they were finished. I am very satisfied with the price and work that they did and would use them again the next time that I need a deck built.

My wife and I developed the initial design ideas for our new deck. We dealt with four contractors to refine the design, the selection of materials, and the price. We selected Mike of Austin Dream Decks because of his enthusiasm for our project, competitive pricing, quality of work, and his design ideas. He was very good at helping us refine the design so that we got the most features while staying within our budget. Once the design was completed and the materials purchased, Mike and his crew started work. I observed much of their work and will say that they appeared very knowledgeable about their craft. All the work was first rate quality. Their experience showed in their work. They arrived promptly every day and the work was completed in eight days. They were careful in their use of the materials and actually had some materials that could be returned for refund which brought in the project under budget. Altogether the project was very successful and we are very happy with our new deck.

Mike Forbes (owner) was very detail-oriented and provided nightly updates on work completed and the next day's goals. He and Greg are masterful carpenters with a passion for detail work and a totally 'finished' look. Prompt arrival and site clean-up daily were a real plus. Mike provides a computer-generated image of the finished deck with his bid. He was very responsive to changes (adding benches) we made during construction and was really focused on our vision of the finished project. The project, including new framing and footings for the addition, was completed in 5 days. We could not be more pleased with the quality and appearance of their work. We would certainly use Austin Dream Decks again and will recommend them to others.
