Rich Air Conditioning Heating Electrical

The only positive is when I asked for a free 2nd opinion and explained the issues, they did arrange to have both an a/c/heating repairman and electrician to come over about the same time within days...and for a free estimate.
Their a/c/heating person gave me his opinion (verbally) of what was the problem with the a/c. Essentially he said the installation was completely wrong, that there was supposed to be a 'backsplashand quot; to keep the water inside the unit that was missing, and the installation would need to be redone with straps, etc. He said this was an emergency as water had gotten into the a/c insulation and until it was fixed, I was taking a chance on mold issues and ceiling collapse if the water got outside the unit...which it was in danger of doing. I think he was sincere and his evaluation honest (doesn't mean it was correct but that was his opinion).
Before he left, he spoke to the owner on the phone and told me once he went into detail with the owner, a proposal would be written up and dropped at my door the next day. (and quot;There was no time to loseand quot;).
I called a couple days later when the proposal was still missing. I spoke to a woman (the owner's wife?) who said they'd send the proposal via email by the next day. She also asked that I fax her a copy of the 1st company's findings and proposal, which I refused to do. Her employees had read the issues that had been written up by the 1st company. I saw no reason this 2nd company couldn't independently come up with their own proposal and estimate.
The email proposal was never sent. Instead I recd a call where both the woman and the man (both owners, I guess) were on the phone at the same time (this was a regular thing. You'd be talking to 1 person and the other person would start talking too-- even though there was no warning that the other person was on the line). They told me my entire a/c unit needed to be replaced. That was their proposal...their only proposal. I told them that's not what their repairman had said, nor what I had expected in writing when I repeatedly called and was told a proposal would be provided to me and I absolutely was not replacing a 3 yr old unit based on their verbal (and suddenly new) feedback.
So my overall poor grade is for the owners who are running this company-- for their lack of professionalism in not providing anything in writing, for telling me they'd do so and just not, and for their attempt to have me agree to a whole new a/c unit based on their verbal final phone call. It was beyond ridiculous (plus out of the 5 people who eventually came in re: the a/c unit, they were the ONLY ones who said it had to be completely replaced).

They did a great job. I would recommend them to anybody. They give senior citizens a good price.
