My partner joined this gym in 2013. During one of her first workouts, she was approached by a personal trainer named Larry. He proceeded to follow her around the gym and make unsolicited comments. She had to ask him multiple times to leave her alone. Since that day, she has had absolutely zero contact with him. Last week, as we were walking towards the door, Larry was standing at the reception desk. As we walked past him, he began making comments towards my partner. She was frightened and continued to the door. I turned to ask him if he was speaking to us. Larry continued to ramble about "false accusations", and began shouting that we "just need to leave," "bye" while gesturing with his hand, "you don't get to look at me," etc. I asked him to explain what he was talking about. He then abruptly came from behind the desk, gesturing aggressively with his hands and got in my face. He stated that, "she doesn't get to make eye contact with me." Two desk employees witnessed the entire event, and the club manager overheard at least a portion of it. To make a long story short, I have spoken to the club manager, the district manager and someone in corporate member services. All have given me the same line that Larry's behavior was "uncalled for", "surprising", "unacceptable," and that Larry, "should have been fired" immediately. But despite my total recounting of the incident MULTIPLE times, verbal and in writing, and corroboration by the three club employees that witnessed it, LA Fitness has not so much as reprimanded Larry. The last conversation I had with the district manager was on Friday of last week - it is now Monday and he has not called be back with any update. I was told that the district manager had to do his "due diligence" and speak with Larry, but evidently, he couldn't call Larry and wanted to wait until this week. I've received nothing but runaround from everyone in this organization. So now, I have a man with an ax to grind, a long-term grudge, my family's personal information and a green light from his employer to harass at will. Do yourself a favor and avoid this club.
