My fan had been making noise.  I wanted him to inspect it, but he was here for 40 min. and it never made noise.  At this time he couldn't find anything wrong but said he would come back if needed.  I totally trust him.  Also I have a Daikin System.  He is the only person I trust to work on this kind of system.

Our general contractor for our master bedroom/bathroom remodel project kept saying he would get to the move of the ductwork in the 2 rooms, but wasn't getting it done (& it got to a point where we weren't confident that he'd do it right even if he could eventually get to it).  Finally, on a Friday afternoon (Good Friday, no less), we took matters into our own hands& called Ken, asking whether he had any folks available who could do such work, as we really needed to start wrapping up the project.  Ken had 2 guys out within about 2 hours, and they performed the work that day, wrapping it up the following Monday.  We've worked with Ken & his folks any number of times on a variety of HVAC needs in 2 separate houses, & our experiences always have been positive.  Ken is (and/or his people are) prompt, honest, & they know their trade well.  You won't go wrong with KG's Air!

I didn't find KG's Air conditioning on Angie's List; I found them doing an online search for a provider of split/multi-zone units for our house, which had a sunroom added to the back of it without a/c or heat in it before we bought it, which unit had failed and needed replacement before the hot summer months settled in.

We had been working for several months with a different previously reputable company that must have changed hands.  Not only had we already paid them for one service call that didn't take care of our problem, but we had to call them several times about delivery of the supposed necessary part to finish the 2nd repair job.  (My calls were never returned; and whenever I called, the boss was always 'working on it' and the secretary/assistant would promise he would call me back, which he NEVER did.)  When the part finally came in, their technician spent an entire day here without ever explaining what was going on, never consulted with me about the cost of his 'all day service call,' and then still couldn't fix our unit!   With a promise of giving me a good price on an entirely new unit, and 'no charge' for the all day service call, they then proceeded to tell me they would have to quote me a price on their way over to install it the next morning!!  I called the next morning and asked for a quote BEFORE they came to install; the quote was outrageously high, as I had priced them online and I told them so.  I gave them a chance to quote a reasonable price, figuring they had jacked up the price to try and recoup some money for the 'all day service call,' but when they stood firm on their price, I told them I would have to call them back.

Thank God I found KG's A/C!!  I left a message for Ken about my situation and he responded to my request for his free estimate the same day.  He showed up very promptly for our appt, even arriving 10 minutes early, did a thorough walk-through and examination of our current system, and made a recommendation for the right-sized system for our needs with the best maintenance record.  He also very diplomatically asked me if I was satisfied with the appearance of the exterior of our home, to which I responded with an emphatic 'no!'  The previous technicians had installed the multi-zone units by running conduit horizontally across the entire rear exterior wall that faces our back yard, around the corner of the next exterior wall, and then vertically down the siding, ending with an open drip hose mounted with metal strapping to the siding.  If that didn't look ugly enough, they insulated it with this dark charcoal-grey foam.  Every time I walked out of the house into our back yard, my eyes were drawn to this fat, ugly charcoal colored foam 'snake' wrapped around our dark beige colored house, being picked apart by nesting birds and squirrels!  It was a real eyesore!  Ken proposed a color-matched metal sleeve to run the conduit through, which neatly concealed it and was nearly invisible when it was mounted to the house.  I only wish I had taken before and after pictures, as the difference was dramatic!  And I had been under the impression the ugliness was just something we had to live with!  I was incredulous when he quoted me the price:  it was $2,300 LESS than the first company we had tried to do business with!  Including the new color-matched metal sleeves!  Ken ordered the units on Tuesday and kept me informed about the delivery day, promising it would be delivered and installed before the weekend.  The unit came in on Thursday for Friday installation, however, Ken had checked the weather report and the forecast was for rain, so he called me and asked if they could begin the preliminary work on Thursday to avoid possible weather delays on Friday, which was fine with me!

He arrived promptly with his crew, all of whom were polite, efficient, and worked well as a team.  They did a very thorough cleanup after the job was over, both in the backyard disposing of all the old gray insulation and the old units,  and in the inside of the house.  The only reason I gave them a 'B' in the punctuality rating was because there was a slight miscommunication about an appointment I had originally planned for, but cancelled when it appeared they would not only get the preliminary work done, but would have the entire job completed that same day.  It was simple for me to reschedule my appt, and definitely worth my staying home to have the job completed a day early!   And I am extremely thankful for the recommendation about the alternative coverage for the conduit, as it gave us added value and improvement to the exterior of our home with very little additional cost.

Another thing definitely worthy of mention:  there was some slightly higher additional cost involved with some materials.
Ken honored his original quotation.    He also pointed out some shoddy workmanship with the previous outside condenser unit and shortcuts that had been taken by the previous company that were not up to code which were very puzzling and could very well have contributed to the malfunction of our old unit in the first place.

Another added value I really appreciated about doing business with Ken was his personal demonstration of all the features of the new units:  so many businesses just hand you the control and the book and present you with a bill.  Ken demonstrated it personally, had his crew mount the brackets for the controllers to whatever location we requested, suggested a recommended maintenance schedule to keep the units in optimal working order, and then asked if there were any more questions before they leave.  What more could anyone ask???

The guy was honest; he worked a lot with me on the price. He was a pleasure to work with. I didn't like that he was not the most personable guy and its just a one man shop it wasn't the kind I was considering. When it comes down to whether he mile walked me and talked to me doesn't make much of a difference to me as to whether he did a good job and does the stuff. I had service with them in the past and it seems like he has knowledge specifically regarding air conditioning systems which other competing companies maybe don't always have. I made a point on certifications and there is a particular certification for HVAC stuff and its pretty much a one man shop so if it has a 100% then it tends to have a certification for a long list of companies maybe 60% for a good one and 30% for a bad one.

Scheduled, installed and startup went well. They laid down drop cloths so there was no foot traffic in the carpeted areas, removed the old unit (in the attic and outside). The job took two days and even showed me areas where the ductwork is old and disintegrating. Maybe I'll replace that next time. Ken is very thorough and direct. I think he would do whatever it takes to complete the job, even offered to replace it over the weekend if needed. Do review your efficiency options, I can claim some off my taxes for the choices I made on the a/c systems. Very happy with my new system...!

In the middle of the hottest days this summer the a/c on my rental house went out. Ken got out the same day to check out the problem and he fixed it that same day as well. A few days later the a/c stopped working again. He stopped by the same day I found the problem. (It turned out to be a completely unrelated electrical problem- he fixed that for me as well) He is always easy to get on the phone, gets to me as soon as possible, and has very reasonable prices. I have referred him to everyone I know.

When we called Ken to give us an overall diagnosis of our HVAC situation on a new investment home we were going to use as a rental, he came over promptly (within a day or two) to give us his opinion. He provided his quote within a day or so, and it was all detailed out as above. He absolutely stuck to it! Thanks to his expertise, we were able to get an older air conditioner in good service that we weren't sure would even work, & made sure the furnace will last (hopefully) a long time. He even offered to replace the water heater so we wouldn't have to hire a plumber for that piece of work. Ken is great & as honest as the day is long, & we are impressed with his helpers, too. You won't go wrong with Ken.
