 + 0 moreHad to stay on them every step of the way. Did not follow drawings, had to repaint twice due to running and laziness. Left holes behind cabinets..just lazy work. Referred to us by insurance co. The man who did tiling wad very good though.

 + 2 moreOverall we could not be happier. I would hire ARC/Robert Allen in a minute and am very hopeful that I will be able to do so one day soon!
Description of Work: Renovation/remodel of kitchen, laundry room and more after a water leak in our home caused extensive damage. Cabinets removed from kitchen and laundry room, new cabinets built, installed, painted. Baseboards replaced. Walls repainted. Granite counter tops installed. New sink/faucet/hardware. Robert Allen as project manager was excellent. Coordinated the carpenter, plumber, painters, movers, cleaning crew (we also had wood floors replaced by another company which necessitated us moving out of the house completely for two weeks). We worked with Robert over the space of several months, from beginning estimate to final payment. He was always on time, always courteous and professional. He consistently followed up on all questions and issues, large and small. His crews were very courteous and pleasant to have in my home....and having workers in my home for weeks on end is not my idea of a good time! Robert easily accommodated us when we added in a few additional painting/carpentry jobs that were not covered under the original estimate. His follow through was stellar.

 + -1 moreThe whole experience was awful. The project took twice as long as he said it would take and ended up being over $2K more than the estimate. He didn't keep up to speed on what the subcontractors were doing. I don't know why I paid a 30% markup on their work to the general contractor, since I was talking directly to the subcontractors to make sure they did the work the way I wanted it done. I thought the estimate was pretty firm, since he told me that the 30% was also to help pay for unforeseen costs. As the project was wrapping up and they were just working on the finishing touches, he sent me an updated estimate since we picked a more expensive granite, and none of the other charges had changed. However, once the project was done, it was $1K more than the estimate. At one point I found out that he was leaving the house key in the mailbox for the different subcontractors so they could let themselves in to the house. I asked him not to do that and he got upset at me.
Description of Work: General contractor to install cabinets, appliances and granite countertop. No demolition work included.
