Excellent!!...from measurements to installations

Mike and his stall were absolutely professional and communicated clearly. The shutters are absolutely beautiful and I would definitely use them again!

Measure and options were easy and clear, ordering was striaght forward and the price and quality were much better than what we had seen from other vendors whom also bid for the work.  Wait time was right at what they estimated and we went thru a few color samples trying to match before everything was perfect.  Install was fast with maybe 1 hour from start to finish.  Caulking and finish were very nice and everything was left clean.  Highly recommended!  Will use them again.

Great to work with, the owner (Mike) is a really nice guy, made the whole process very easy. Installer (Tom) did an awesome job, they installed 10 shutters in a matter of hours. Can't recommend more highly!

The whole process went flawlessly.  Mike's assistant, Tom came out twice to match my paint trim and even sent another sample of stain after we had trouble finding an exact match for my office.  The shutters were ready before the promised date and the installation went perfectly.  The finished shutters matched our trim perfectly. My husband and I really love the shutters and would not hesitate hiring Mike for any future work.  I would recommend him to anyone looking for custom shutters that will last a lifetime.

He is always on time.  The shutters are always ready when they say they will be.  I am very traditional. I like the ability to fold the shutters open so the view from the window is not blocked at all.  Thus giving me the same view out of a window as an opened drape. However, unlike a drape when closed a shutter allows you to open the slates to let daylight in. Where a Drape when closed does not.  He spends the time to figure which way the shutters should fold open to be esthetically pleasing.  Does a beautiful job.

Had him comeback in 2011 and do two bedrooms their baths and an exercise room for $4000.

We are so happy with our new shutters!   They were installed quickly and the paint was matched exactly to our other existing shutters.  We don't usually take the time to post a review, but we are very pleased to post this one.

I actually went on Angie's List to find a shutter company and the reviews for Universal Window Coverings convinced me to go
with them.  The owner, Mike, came out to do the measurements and tell us about his company and then provided us with the
estimate.  We like the product and the company and the price seemed reasonable.  When the shutter was ready to install
the installer came out and easily installed the shutter.  The whole process was easy, professional, and met all the promised
timelines.  We love the look and quality of the new shutter and was the finishing touch to the new bathroom.  We would definitely
use Mike again when we need shutters.
 

My friend had plantation shutters installed by this company and she gave me Michael's information.  I called Michael and he came out and measured my windows and worked up what I thought was a very reasonable quote.  I had the blinds installed on Oct. 11.  Tom is the main installer person.  Very nice, very polite, very efficient.  I couldn't be happier.  I would highly recommend this company to anyone wanting blinds or plantation shutters - you won't be sorry.

Universal personnel did an excellent job in their installation of the shutters.  The fitting of the shutter frames was perfect.  Some shutters were stained, and the stain was an excellent match to the stain on the existing woodwork.  Other shutters were painted, and the paint was a good match to the paint on the walls.  All work was completed within the time promised.

Highly recommend this company.  I could not be more pleased with them (and if you've read my other reviews on this site, you know that doesn't happen often).  There was an incident at my house that damaged one of the shutters.  Mike, the owner, and Tom, the installer, both went out of their way to accommodate my very tight schedule for the inspection, removal and return of the shutter.  Mike also offered to fix the shutter for whatever the insurance company would pay (originally a quite paltry sum).  As with the initial installation, they did excellent work and Tom was his usual prompt, polite, professional, efficient, tidy self.  They picked up the shutter two days before the holiday and returned/installed it the day after the holiday.  Now the shutter looks like new and I'm a happy camper.  You can't ask for better service.

Tom, the installer, is just plain awesome.  If you have to have a contractor in your house, Tom is the one you want.  He was very careful (even working around my cats) and obviously knows what he is doing (20+ years of experience).  Always a pleasure to work with a professional!
Mike's price is a bit higher than his competitors but since I'm uber picky, I wanted to work with a company that had a good reputation, a good product, and the ability/willingness to take care of any unforeseen issues.  And that decision paid off.  We had an issue with a piece of arm moulding that disintegrated upon removal (not Tom's fault) and within a week, he had found an identical piece, had it painted and installed in my house.  Couldn't ask for better service.
My only regret is that I waited so long to get these shutters!  Highly recommend this company!

This is an excellent company to use.  This is the third house Universal Window Coverings has placed shutters in for me.  Mike is the president and he is the one who meets with you.  In detail, he outlines the products offered and the entire installation process.  He does not use high pressure tactics.  The quality workmanship of his company speaks volumes for itself.  Tom is the actual installation technician.  He is incredibly knowledgeable about the products he works with.
I have gotten several estimates over the years.  I have never had to use another company.  Universal Window Coverings has competitive prices and excellent customer service.  They are a small, family-owned company that stands behind their work and product.  They go that extra mile to make sure your house window coverings are truly beautiful.
I highly recommend them.
