Very messy. Not detail oriented. Only works 4 or maybe 5 hours a day (which is fine), but he got behind, the further he got behind the messier/sloppier he got. When it came to the next to last day to be finished, he informed me it would be 2-3 additional days before he was finished. I was not happy. If I had known several days in advance I might have felt different. I told him I needed him to work as long as it took on the last day to finish on time. He hung up on me, and the next day he showed up and packed up his tools and left without finishing the job. Very unprofessional!! Would never use Top Notch Concepts again, and I suggest to anybody that YOU RUN AS FAST AS POSSIBLE AWAY FROM TOP NOTCH CONCEPTS!!!!!!

Response from Top Notch Concepts
The customer’s comments are untrue apart from my leaving the job and hanging up on him. This was an 8 week job totaling $12,250.00, not $15k. His statement about the amount of hours I work is irrelevant since I do not get paid by the hour; my labor is a fixed price (if the job goes over I don’t charge more). The original finish date was Friday, May 30th. On Thursday I informed the customer that I would be 90% done Friday but would have to return Monday for a few touch-up items (not 2-3 days). That evening I received a phone call from the customer. As a result of his rage on the phone he became unreasonable, ungrateful and disrespectful, so I felt I could no longer work for this customer. I hung the phone up and terminated our contract by leaving the job the following day. The reason the job was behind is they added extra work throughout the entire job, items that were never discussed (i.e. additional shower heads, backsplash to vanity, cabinet lighting, multiple doors, trim, paint, etc.) which I was not paid for. Anyone knows that when you add additional work the job is more than likely not going to finish on time. In addition, I also did not get paid for materials out of pocket and my last week’s work. I also have an email from the customer with words in it like “done such a good job” and “very dependable contractor” so I find it hard to believe that I am rated an F. For 8 weeks I was there every day without fail! In addition, I worked the last weekend of May and on Memorial Day, a holiday, so I think the rating for punctuality is completely biased. I have been in this business for over 20 years and have never been spoken to so rudely by a customer. I have a huge customer base and tons of A++ referrals. If a customer would like to speak to any of my past or current customers I will always put them in touch. I have nothing to hide. I have customers willing to wait 5 months to get on my calendar because of my work ethic, professionalism, price and reliability. It’s a shame that one customer’s inability to be reasoned with now affects my Angie’s List rating. Here are just a few reviews from my website: We recently worked with Top Notch Concepts to re-model our master bathroom. As first time homeowners we had a number of questions throughout the process and they worked to find solutions. We could not be happier with the results. They are a credit to the profession and we appreciated their hard work and courtesy from the start of the project until the end. I would be pleased to recommend them to others. Finally, a reliable, honest contractor! TNC is very reasonable, has excellent craftsmanship and attention to detail. I thoroughly enjoyed chatting with them during our kitchen redesign project. TNC puts their heart in to the work. I have recommended TNC to my friends and family and I will use them again! I saw TNC’s ad in Dallas Offers and decided to send them an e-mail. I showed them everything I needed (including repair to ceilings and crown molding, grout on fireplace and bar, doors that didn’t close properly, etc). They gave me an estimate and told me it would take two days of work. They stayed true to the cost and time estimate, and did a fabulous job on my condo. They even bought a globe for the light in my closet! (There hasn’t been a globe on it since I bought the place)! TNC did a great job, and I will definitely call them for any future home project or repair! TNC completely reconfigured our master bath. We had a very small bathroom with a shower stall the size of a phone booth! They removed two walls which expanded our bathroom by about three feet. I know that doesn't sound like much, but now we have a shower large enough for four people! There is space to accommodate a moderate sized linen cabinet. They had to redo the bathroom from the ground up; new subfloor, walls plumbing and electric. Then they tiled the shower, floor and painted all remaining surfaces. I luv it! We have lived in our house for over thirty years and every time I use our new bathroom I feel like a DIVA! Please don’t let one irrational customer fool you!

They charged around $7000 for labor, it did not include material. What I like is the fact that it's only one guy - he does not sub-contract out and I can leave him at my house without me being there. He was extremely neat and tidy with the construction. I think I'd never seen my floors so clean - whenever he was done for the day, he'd actually clean the bathroom. And he did all the work himself. This was actually the second time I've used him. I had used him for a minor kitchen remodel. It worked out great. I did have some minor issues after I'd checked off items after he was done and he was very prompt in making sure that the issues were addressed and taken care of.

Everything he has done is an A+ work. I like all the work that he does and the speed and the efficiency in which he does so. He is also a great guy, down to earth humble guy and doesn't cause any problems. He does everything very professional, very cordial. Just a good overall person besides the work on top of that. He is a good guy and you cannot put a price on that.
Description of Work: Top Notch Concepts did our whole kitchen. He did the deck in the back and our gutter system, In the inside of our house, he has done putting up pictures from framing things.

He has been an apprentice since he was 14 years old. He has saves me thousands of dollars. He is a real find. He can do anything. He advises me on what I should use. He takes me with him to pick out supplies. He helps me pick out the right things to use. He finds sales and then calls me so I can save. He lets me know about discounts. There is nothing he can't do. He does it all. I would recommend him to anyone. He is very extraordinary. I found him by word of mouth and wanted to let Angie's list know about him.
Description of Work: He has done carpentry, woodwork, a backsplash, electrical, plumbing, finishing (inc. cabinetry), drywall, textured ceilings, painting, countertops, faucets, sinks, wood finish, light fixtures, spot lighting, changed hardware in toilets and showers, and is getting ready to repair a place on my roof. He is an adviser.

The kitchen is very small and for the last 7 years the gas wall oven never worked, it wasn't worth replacing. Bill came out several times at the appointed times to get measurements and give design ideas. He did not charge me for these time nor the design ideas. He is very knowledgeable about spacing and function and listened to my needs and cost of the project. When we finally decided that the most economic approach was to replace the stove top with a slide in range and remove the wall oven and replace with a cabinet and microwave shelf. The cabinets were still good and didn't need replacing. He used the cabinet doors from under the stove top to create extra storage in the wall oven cabinet. Added bonus (no charge) made a wood back for the back of the range hood so it will blend with the rest of the cabinets and matched the paint. This was so when looking into the kitchen the range hood looked like it was part of the upper cabinets and not just a piece of stainless steel. Looking at the ceiling he blended the paint and texture so well there is no way to tell it was even patched. Bill has no other crew members and I felt safe leaving him with a house key while I went to work. Each day Bill cleaned up after himself , no tools, clutter, ect . There was an issue with the range handle not allowing the dishwasher to open all the way. Bill was able to get the dishwasher to open all the way, I was very impressed with his ability to think outside of the box. Next year I will be upgrading a bathroom and already told him to be ready for my call.
Description of Work: Remove wall gas double oven, remove stove top, hood range, dishwasher. Install a dishwasher, range hood and range, due to size difference between the stove top and the range extended cabinet and matched the counter top. Reuse the old wall oven cabinet and make a microwave shelf and shelves. Patch sheet rock, texture and paint, replaced old window sill.
