They came out and accessed everything but they were really pricey. They would not come down on the price. They said it was for the amount of work. I don't believe it was that much amount of work. They did provide some material but the material wasn't that expensive. They didn't want to negotiate the price. You have really negotiate the price and listen to the customer. They cleaned all of the work and everything. Everything was fine and functioning, no water leakage. They were respectful, nice. They knew what they were doing. They left everything in clean condition.
Terrell said he would have someone out the day before but no one showed up or called. He did not return my call. I called next day and he promised someone would be out to perform the work. He scheduled between 3 and 6 PM. Luckily, the tenant for whom the work was being done left work early, becasue the workmen showed up at 1:00PM and performed the work as requested.
He is a contractor for Old Republic Home Warranty. Since Old Republic paid for the new water heater, I had to pay for the installation, etc. Terrell would not take a credit card, but insisted I pay with cash or a check made out to Terrell Garner and not his company. I delivered a check to my tenant's residence.
A couple of days later, I requested an invoice. He took my email and said I would have it right away. 4 hours later, I called but voice mail anwered. My call was never returned.
A few days later, I looked up his company on the BBB website and even though he is not a member of the BBB, they had several complaints against him. All were unresolved. The BBB did, however, furnish an email for him. I emailed him requesting an invoice for the work I paid him. 3 days later, still no response.
Last Friday, I called and he answered and apologized for not getting the invoice to me. He said I could expect it within the hour. Guess what? No invoice. Called again, and spoke to a lady who said she would email it. No invoice as of 2/2/15 at 4:17 CDT.
My firm will never do business with T & L Plumbing again.
I had a backup in one of my sewer drainage lines over the Thanksgiving weekend. Terrell had someone come out & evaluate my line that Sunday morning & the stoppage was corrected. His worker did inform me he felt that their may be a problem with the line. He told me if the line slowed down again to call so they could evaluate with their video camera. Well on 12/14/14, the line slowed down again & I called Terrell, the owner & he had a crew here first thing Monday am with a video camera. They found the break after 10 minutes caused by tree roots from the landscaping in my yard. He had the break & line repaired on 12/14 & 12/15/14 including inspecting the both sewer drain lines fully to ensure there was only 1 break, neatly drilling through the driveway & refilling the hole with cement, repairing the pipe along with removing the small tree which had caused the problem (also replaced other landscaping so area looked great) & fully re-inspecting my lines to ensure all were taken care of.
He personally supervised the video evaluation of my lines since he's worked on my pipes before & explained everything he saw & what was needed. His workers were on time, friendly & professional & did a great job.
I will only use Terrell & his company for my plumbing needs. I can trust his work, his fees are very reasonable & he is dependable.
The owner called me about 30 minutes later with a quote. He stated the sewer line was 9'-11' below grade, and would take three men all day to replace. He was busy the next week, but could come out the following day (Sunday) and perform the job.
The BBB gives them a rating of D-. I did not proceed with Mr. Garner's repair plan.
On Monday, Tioga Plumbing came out (referred by my plumber, who was out of town). Three times he ran the snake, and it came under the house. He stated this should not be occurring. He found a second cleanout, which ran from the house to the city connection. He dug it out, ran the snake into the exterior sewer line, and cleared it of root growth
He then used a camera and detector, determining my line ran straight about 8' then angled right to connect to the city line at the base of my drive, where my meter is located. He also determined the line depth was 3'9".
I've only been in Dallas 2 years & have had some planned and unplanned renovation work done on my 1996 town home. I've been fortunate to have found some excellent family owned companies that have provided me wonderful service thanks to Angie's List. T & L Plumbing is one of them.
So finally the new part is in and is reinstalled into my water heater. I pay them the $75 trade call fee and they are on their way. Burner is lit, hot water is flowing, life is good. About 20-30 minutes later I head back upstairs to get something and I smell gas half way up the stairs. Not good!!!! Very strong smell at the top under the attic door. I hustle into the attic and shut off the gas feed valve. I start troubleshooting and discover 2 problems: they didn't dope the gas supply line connection to the control box AND not only did they not use dope but they didn't even fully tighten the nut that secures the gas line that runs out of the bottom of the control box into the tank! Gas was spewing out from beneath the control box. I run to home depot, buy the dope, and secure/seal the connections properly. THIS CARELESSNESS COULD HAVE DESTROYED MY HOUSE AND KILLED MY FAMILY!!!!
Stay away, FAAAAAAR FAAAAAR away from these incompetent hacks.
I told HWA of this account and the girl said "oh my god, thank goodness you were home!!" Hopefully they'll get less calls from HWA at least.
