If we were not moving out of State I would change from my present Vet to Summertree clinic.

It was expensive. The service was really good, it was expensive though. We use them for our other dog too. They are always an A. I will continue to use service with them.

After a long and frustrating search for a quality vet in Dallas, I finally discovered Summertree and Dr. Kathleen Sohner. She is a geriatric cat specialist, above and beyond the usual credentials. The clinic is ALWAYS clean, the staff is ALWAYS friendly, respectful, helpful, and compassionate. I've been through the gamut of treatments from checkups, vaccines, dental cleaning, tooth extraction, spaying, diabetes management, and sadly euthanasia. I have never questioned that I was receiving the highest quality of care. Sometimes the bills are high, but I believe they are comparable to what I would be charged elsewhere (except shoddy providers), and I have always been confident that the recommended treatment/tests were reasonable based on my goals. I have even popped in unannounced with strays I have found and they have accommodated me by providing appropriate care for these animals. And during and after the two times I had to let my senior cats go, the doctors and staff were kind and supportive, even sending me condolence cards afterwards, and accommodating special requests with regard to cremation. I can't recommend them highly enough!

Dr. Hayes has attended to our pets for both routine care and medical problems for years, and we have always been very happy with the care

This is an extraordinarily fine animal and bird clinic with superior doctors and staff. On our first visit started with the vet's assistant taking a detailed history for their 'new patient' record. Dr Hays examined the bird, trimmed her nails and gave her a vitamin shot. I was impressed with how gently and expertly both the doctor and assistant handled the bird (who usually resisted handling). The doctor counseled me on the bird's diet. His exam found evidence of a tumor or other disease. He suggested diagnostic tests but I opted for a wait and see approach. He recommended a recheck in a couple of weeks or sooner if there were more problems. I left with nutritional supplements, food pellets, an excellent informational packet about bird care, as well as a written itemized statement that included a summary of the doctor's findings and recommendations. A staff member carried the bird cage to my car for me. [The clinic is well-staffed so that someone is available to help you at every turn. The atmosphere is pleasant, busy but unhurried, professional and friendly. The offices are comfortable and bright and everyone, from vet to desk staff, seems to remember all the pet-patients and their owners.] About 10 days later, our bird took a sharp turn to the worse, suddenly losing the use of one leg. I called and asked to come in the same day. Dr Hays was booked so I saw Dr Brazelton instead. Her examination also suggested a tumor, now likely pressing on a nerve and numbing the right leg. She also suggested diagnostic work but was understanding when I explained we did not want to pay for (or put the bird through) extensive medical treatment. I asked about euthanasia and the doctor discussed it with me in a straightforward and respectful manner. Since it appeared the bird was not in pain, I again took her home. And again I left with careful detailed instructions about keeping her warm and comfortable. However, by the next day it was plain the bird was failing fast. I called early and they got us in less than two hours later. The staff at the desk was expecting me and was especially kind and helpful. An assistant talked to me about the bird's failing condition, Dr Brazelton talked to me also to make sure I was comfortable with the procedure. I signed a written authorization for euthanasia and an acknowledgement regarding disposal of the remains. They allowed me to be present throughout. They were kind, considerate of my feelings and tender to our bird. Dr Brazelton explained every step. They offered to postpone settlement of my bill or to settle up in the privacy of the exam room. Again a staff member (Jacob) helped me to my car and he talked comfortingly to me before I left. All in all, I can't imagine a better animal clinic.

I have been bringing my Umbrella Cockatoo and Cockatiel to Dr. Hays at Summertree since my Cockatoo was a baby 15 years ago. I am not sure if there is anything that Dr. Hayes does not know about aviary medicine. He is most definitely the "go to guy" for pet birds. He is always warm, friendly, and knowledgable. My most recent visit was a follow up after a middle of the night emergency clinic visit. My Cockatoo had been egg bound and I was concerned that she had not expelled the shells since they had imploded the egg inside her at the emergency clinic. After he concluded she was fine, he answered all my questions. Dr. Hayes educated me on the now very different care of my teen age and extremely hormonal bird. Parrot care in general is expensive so I don't find Summertree out of the ordinary in cost. I have to drive a bit to get there as I live in Wylie, however, Dr. Hays is the only one I trust to take care of my birds, I highly recommend him! ( The cost I entered is a very rough ballpark figure as it was several months ago and I can't recall the exact amount)

Dr. Sohner was introduced to me as specializing in geriatric cats. My experience with her is that she REALLY knows her stuff. She is an exceptional clinician, and is always keeping the big picture of my cat's health in mind. The staff is professional and friendly, but not stuffy nor too casual. They are always courteous and professional, and know me by name. When I leave a message, it gets to the doctor, and I get prompt call backs. They are gentle with my nervous cat, and he does better with these visits than with any other veterinarian we have gone to. The waiting area is small, but I am never there long, and it never smells dirty.

This veterinary clinic has been around for quite a while and is an excellent place for treating and boarding birds. They cater to birds very well but care for all types of pets. The work that is done here is very thorough and they staff is very knowledgeable.
