In the beginning he did some repairs to the siding and some sofit repair. As things went along I had more work and began to trust him and not really question. The bills got progressively higher and there were never any hours for labor listed, just the dollar amount. There would be a materials charge but when I had previously offered to purchase the materials ahead and have him pick them up he said no that he would take care of it. When I did get to the house to continue the project I noticed that he had purchased vanities, mirrors, light fixtures, faucets, plumbing and electrical items, none of which I had authorized. All along I was clear that I did not want to use cheap items. I paid the $3,000. bill before I got there because I had grown to trust him and felt he was acting in my best interest. He always wants to get paid promptly the day he is done. It was not until I got to town that things all changed. When I got to the house I now could see what a poor job he did and how little time it must have taken him. He installed vanities, lights and mirrors before we even made decisions about tile, flooring, texturing and paint. The drawers to the vanity could not open because they hit the wall frame, there were broken tiles where he had to force the vanity to fit, there were holes in the drywall behind the vanity that he never repaired and he drilled the holes into the back of the vanity so removal was impossible without taking the counter top off. I was so upset and did not feel the quality or the workmanship could ever warrant such an inflated bill. When I started to ask for receipts he refused and became frustrated with me. I researched the items and found that he had charged me $1300 for around $600 dollars worth of Home Depots lowest end products. I asked why he as a professional would install these things before the other work in the bathroom had been done but he had little response. I believe that since he doesn't do tile, paint or flooring he decided he better get those things put in before I got to town, When I pressed him on how he could have possibly have charged so much for labor given there was so little accomplished only then did he tell me that his hourly rate was $100/hr. I knew he would not be willing to refund me any money especially since he wouldn't give me receipts so I begged him to at least come and remove the install so the rest of the work could be done in an effort to recoup at least something. He agreed but never came to do the removal and ceased returning any of my calls, texts or emails. The pictures below show the holes in the wall, the condition of the bathroom where he installed a new vanity, a bag of garbage I found with new items (that I paid for that he discarded) as well as the proper screws, etc to attach the medicine cabinet and vanities. He just drilled in wood screws instead of the screws provided. Much of the other work was done poorly but writing this is upsetting. I encourage anyone considering using Southloft to really research this person as I now believe that his ratings must be fabricated. One site had 3 ratings the same exact day, two of his good ratings turned up just after he knew I was unhappy and they all seem to sound as if they were written by the same person. Buyer beware!

It went really well, called me back promptly to set up appointment, arrived on time, knew what he was doing and got it done quickly and professionally. Did great work. Will be using again for any future repairs.
