The first and only time I used my insurance agent was a dreadful time.  I have an older Toyota Camry that I have treated with kid gloves:  all maintenance, premium service, premium gas, etc.  I had 197,000 miles and I am confident I can make it to at least 300,000.  I was T-boned at an intersection with what appeared to be relatively slight damage to the passenger side doors.
Scott and his assistant Amanda were almost non-responsive from the beginning of the accident, as if they could not be bothered with such a car.  I had to do all foot-work.  They did nothing.  I had to deal with the other party, the other agent, the independent reviewer?the other party was clearly at fault, but she was accusing me.  Once I was cleared of wrong-doing, and my repair estimate from a State Farm National Company certified repairman (which I had to find on my own) came in at well over the top, the car was declared a total loss.
Only then did Amanda say, ?Hey, I?ve got a repair man that will do the work for much less.?  Wouldn't you know it was only $50 off from the settlement I received, which was well below what the car is worth taking into accound all maintenance I've had performed.  How remarkable!  Seems like Scatt/Amanda could have given me that repairman FIRST and then I could have a car that?s not considered salvage.  I even had to get a salvage title, and I still had a few payments remaining!
I never heard a word from Scott until I told him I was looking for another State Farm agent, because in my opinion, he was a corrupt agent.  He sent a rather terse email saying that no one in Dallas would have me as a client.  Sad, very sad.
Oh, well, I?m at 228,000 miles in my salvage automobile, and it looks and runs like a charm!  And I have a great new State Farm Agent here in Dallas!
