I've used them for several months and have been very pleased with the grooming and the service. Please know they lost their lease on the Lovers Lane location at the end of May and they are searching for a new space. That's why their voice mail is full, I presume. I will definitely return once they reopen.
Response from Park Cities Pet Salon
"Thank you , [member name removed] for your review. We did in fact terminate our lease, and then our first space had a city permit issue with dog grooming. So we are happy to report we will open sometime in December at Meadow Rd and Central Expressway. Please email us at [email protected] with your info and email address so that we may email you with info on our re-opening.! We have missed everyone , especially the doggies!!"

They are great with my dog. I have a Bouvier Des Flanders which is a large hairy dog with a very unique hair cut. Not only are they able to do the grooming service they were the only shop in town that knew what a Bouvier was and how to groom him. Karen (the owner) is always on site and makes sure that your dog looks the way you want before you leave. I have used them for nearly two years now and will continue to do so, they are great. The shop is clean and there is a large window so that you can see your dog being groomed. They are very transparent and open about the whole process. They are also very knowledgeable about how to groom all types of breeds of dogs.

We had a mezzo experience here, it was difficult to get through to get an appointment. Seemed disorganized when we arrived, couldn't find us on the list and finally found us, had put our first name twice instead of first and last name. Odd mistake. The first visit was okay but the second, they clipped one of her toenails way too short. Had clearly tried to stop the bleeding with something. Never mentioned to me but when I put her in the car, noticed her bleeding all over my seat. I know that happens but they should have told me instead of either ignoring it or hoping I wouldn't notice. We won't go back. Higher price than other places too and the disorganization is frustrating, not answering the phone or long holds, and not being able to find us in their system. And long checkout. Can't remember the last date we were there so that's a guess.
Response from Park Cities Pet Salon
"Thank you for your comments. I regret you had a less than great experience with us! Yes, I know that it was difficult to get through to us the last 5 weeks we were open. We were swamped with clients trying to get in before we closed at the end of May. We also had some part time help during this time that understandably made some computer mistakes in our pet software. Our research (and our clients) indicate our prices are most often lower than our area competitors . Different areas of the city charge differently as do the national chains. I am truly sorry no one pointed out the nail "Quicking". Vets and groomers alike try hard to avoid this but it does happen if the dog moves its foot, if the quick is too long, if the quick is hard to see, etc. We do use the same product vets and other grooming salons use- a styptic powder called Kwik-Stop. It is our policy to point out Everything we see and do while a dog is in our care. Thank you for pointing this out and I will address this issue with our staff when we re-open next month. Again, my apologies."

Because I did express care, I think it was $60. It was okay, but it wasn't great. The people were very nice, but I didn't think that the grooming or the facility looked that nice. The price was fine. I just didn't like the facility itself. I probably will not go back again because I had better grooming in other places.
Response from Park Cities Pet Salon
"Thank you for your feedback. Yes I agree about the facility -- that's one reason we moved ! We are re-opening in December in a newer and totally remodeled space at Meadow Rd and N Central Expressway. Hope you will try us there!"

I called on March 13 to see if I could book an appointment for my two dogs. The girl who answered the phone was obviously new because she was asking someone how to book it. She continued to talk to that other person with me on the line, in Spanish the whole time, about other stuff other than setting my appointment. Well I speak Spanish and understood their whole conversation. Instead of discussing my appointment they were discussing what they were going to eat for lunch and apparently settled on burritos. I am patiently waiting for them overhearing all this, biting my tongue because I am afraid to say anything and have them mistreat my dogs. She finally talks to me and tells me she is going to pass my call to some guy who knows how to take appointments (the whole time i feel like asking her what would be so hard about her just writing down the information on paper then giving it to that guy so i could get on with my day). Well, I wait on the phone another 10 minutes (since all their other reviews are good I am willing to do this) but the guy never comes on the phone and I hung up.
So new day today March 14, I call them again hoping its not the same girl answering. Ugh unlucky for me it was. She answers and I ask her if they are booked for today and she says she is on the other line so I have to wait. I remind her about what happened yesterday and she says she has to tend to the customer on the other line, never offers an apology or explanation. So she puts me on hold but this time only for 3 minutes. She then asks me what I need (still no apology or explanation) and I ask her AGAIN, if they have any appointments for today and she says no. At that point I hung up on her as it was not worth my time to argue. I was polite and professional the whole time, as I said I always am with groomers so they can treat my dogs well. This place needs to hire a person with common sense, courtesy, and good phone etiquette.... this new girl unfortunately is not it. So now I have to go through the whole process again and call other groomers, ugh such a waste.

"Thank you for your comments. Not sure why they are duplicated. Yes, we did have a new girl helping at the front for about a week, and she didn't work out. I apologize for your experience. We were preparing to close at that location at the end of May, after 9 years there, so the last couple of months were really busy trying to accommodate all the clients and calls . We will reopen next month sometime so I hope you will try us again! Again, my apologies."

I have previously used a mobile grooming service but there was a complication with the holidays and change in their personel so I thought I would give Park Cities Pet Salon a try since they were close to me. I called them, expecting to have to wait a couple of weeks since it was holiday season, but was able to bring him in that same day. I alerted the groomers that I had just obtained his maltese and I didn't know how used to grooming he was, but that he seemed very good natured. He had no teeth remaining ( puppy mill surviver), so I asked them to trim the hair under his mouth very short because his tongue gets caught in it and bothers him. They worked well with him and he turned out perfect ! I think he enjoyed the process and the attention. I was also surprised at the cost savings over the mobile groomers I was using. I will definately use Park Cities Pet Salon for my dog's next trim.

The place was clean and nice. The owner was friendly and lovely - clearly a dog lover. It was a little more expensive than petsmart but no comparison as far as service so well worth it.

My dog is a part King Charles Spaniel part cocker or poodle mix. We've used Park Cities now 3 times since we moved into the area. 1st trip was perfect in all respects - only took from 8 till noon and he looked great, well treated and not traumatized. Next 2 trips were also great from the end result perpective, but took way too long, in both cases almost all day from 9 till 5. One of these was on a Saturday, but we had no better luck on a Wednesday the next time. We'll continue another time or two to see if we can find a day or time when we can reliably get done in a few hours. The groomers are great.

"Thank you for your comments, [edited out member name]. I'm sorry for the extended time spent a couple of times on your visits. Since we open at 7:30 on the weekdays , maybe I could recommend that time? We can get the first dogs out really fast. Or maybe a 2:00 appointment? If we have big dogs or matted dogs that come in before you it can slow us down as well. We always strive to get the dogs out as quickly as possible and still be thorough. Thanks again for your feedback! Karen Owner, PCPS"

This was my dog Sparkle's first visit to Park Cities, and she's only been groomed once before (at Petsmart, and she got a respiratory ailment 3 days later) so I don't have much perspective on pro grooming really. But she looks great, (Cairn's can be a challenge to groom), she didn't seem in the least traumatized, tho 6 hours, a good deal of it in a cage (which I'm uncomfortable with, frankly) seems like an awful long time. It was a Saturday however, so next time I'll take her on a weekday. But the staff was very friendly and professional, the price was no more than I'd paid at Petsmart. It's a cute place, too. I felt totally comfortable leaving her with them.

My dog had the best experience there! He was handled by very caring people. The owner, Karen, is always there and takes my dog out of my arms and kisses him all the way to the back! The products are great, they can even use a furminator shampoo to decrease shedding. I love the grooming!

Have taken my dog in for grooming since management changed in 2006. They ALWAYS do a good and thorough job, and my dog seems relatively stress free. It's a small business run by a very personable owner. She brings her own dog to work and seems to truly love animals. Prices are reasonable as well.
