Dallas BBB gave Oasis Moving an F rating, and they also revoked the BBB membership that had lasted from 2009-2011. Not sure why of that, but this company has a lot of complaints about them. Oasis Moving Company Inc did not provide my dad with the following:
Weight tickets from any time of the move. We were not allowed or asked to view the weighing of the goods, which is a federal law. They did not make or provide an inventory sheet upon receiving the movable goods, or with delivery of those goods. We believe he was overcharged for the move as well. I've asked for the weigh ticket numerous times, and it has never been provided. Even if it was provided, I would still be skeptical due to the other things that could have been added to the truck . My brother and my parents witnessed Oasis Moving dumpster diving for boxes because they didn't bring any in the first place. My parents were charged for special handling of their comfort sleep bed, and all they did was wrap up the bed in cardboard boxes. The bed was found just thrown on the truck as is. Also, there were three lamp shades thrown on the truck as is. All three were damaged during the move. Instead of picture packs, they just wrapped a thin piece of cardboard around each picture. All ends were exposed.
The weigh tickets and not viewing the weighing and the inventory, are all three federal laws that were violated during this move.
Dumpster diving for boxes is not professional nor appropriate in any situation.
The next issue was the wall and baseboard damage. I suppose things happen and perfection is a bit much to expect but we have quite a few places that require not only paint but drywall repair. I have used movers before and cannot remember ANY damage so I have to give a big thumbs down here. In addition there were a couple of gouges on a sofa as well as numerous scratches on wood furniture I have had to touch up since.
I would have been fine with all that as I'm a pretty easy going guy, but the final straw was my 70" TV. I powered it on 5 days after the move only to see my screen is shattered. I was disappointed especially since I just bought is 60 days ago but wasn't too worried as they advertise they are "bonded and insured" ! This is great I thought, but alas it was not. It seems they, and others like them prey on the ignorance of those of use that do not work in the moving business. When I called the gentleman was extremely unpleasant when I told him I wanted to file a claim for my TV which us unrepairable. His almost immediately informed me "you do know you only get .60 a lb. for the damage". Well that was certainly quality customer service! I felt so much better knowing I would get a whole $50-$60 for the TV I paid almost $1,500 for 60 days ago. Clearly I was less than pleased at the news and did say as much to which he told me I knew all this which really doesn't help either.
In the end, I now know more about moving than I ever wanted to. The least of which is to avoid this business at all costs. The manager was crystal clear that he was not required nor was he interested in discussing the matter. I was welcomed to submit my claim for less than $60 that would take up to 90 days to receive. This is by far the worst experience I have ever had with any business I have ever dealt with.
I WOULD RATHER GET A COUPLE PACK MULES THAN EVER HIRE THEM AGAIN!!!!!!
"I am very sorry you had a bad experience with Oasis Moving, as you can see by reviews on this site and other review sites, we take great pride in customer service. If you would please give me the opportunity to correct the problems you had with your move, Please call me @ 972-241-8384 Clinton"
"The CAT report for total weight was given at the time of move. - Customer signed the contract with added weight and new price total. By signing the customer agreed on price."
The refrigerator handles were broken about half way through the unloading process. The crew leader told us that he could glue the broken handles back together and repaint the scratches with paint from Home Depot. When we refused to go along with his suggestion and said we would need to withhold payment until we got a proper estimate for proper repairs, he called the owner of Oasis (Tally) and they were instructed to strike and stop unloading until we agreed to pay them in full. After an hour standoff, we finally relented and told them to go ahead and unload the rest and that we would pay them. While the movers were finishing, I called the the owner to get to the bottom of what was going to be done. I was told that our refrigerator was used and that the broken handles would not affect the value that much!!!!! When I ask him to physically come out and inspect the damages, he rudely said that we were not paying him to personally come out! When I asked for a copy of his insurance so I could make a claim, I was told that he was self insured and told me that I would have to sue him.
Two nights ago I called the sales person to discuss all of the damages that had been done. She was apologetic and said that they did not do business this way and that she would personally speak to the owner to have him come out and inspect all the damages. I was told that she would get back to me yesterday. It is now 2 days later and they will not answer their phone nor will they call me back. This $540 move has caused $1,000's in damage to our personal belongings and the owner Tally refuses to take care of the problems.
"Please Understand that we Strive to be Ontime to EVERY move. There are times where a customer will tell us there is only 1 bedroom worth of Items, so we dispatch with the idea of the move taken 1-4 Hrs. but there are times where the customer will have many more items then first thought and the move will take longer. then that will make us late to moves after that one. we always call customers and explain that we are going to be a little late and try to estimate our arrival time.."
"Our Employees do Wear "OASIS MOVING" Shirts, We handle claims In office, Not on the Field. If there is a Claim We would send a claim form and have you send Photos. We would pay on that. Sorry your experience was not 100%. We strive to make every customer Happy We are also Under New Management"
"Sorry you where not 100% Happy with your move. We look up the house on google and ask the customer how many Square Feet / Bedrooms they are moving so we can judge the size... There are many times when customers have WAY more then they suspect they do Like you said you had to put much stuff in to storage,"
