 + -1 moreTony arrived on time and quickly diagnosed the problem and what it would take to fix it. He did the work on the same trip. He patiently untangled the lines and then had to disassemble the spool assembly to get the line fully back onto the spool. I was impressed that he had with him all the specialized tools that it took to disassemble and reassemble the gears, levers, springs, and pulleys. I watched the entire process, and could tell that his many years of experience allowed him competently complete the work, lubricate the moving parts, and adjust the pendulum and weights to assure accurate timekeeping.
Description of Work: Our grandfather clock was not moved properly, and the monofilament that held the weights was tangled up in the spool axle. I called Tony Matt because of the Angie's List ratings of his past work.

 + -1 moreMr. Franks had worked on numerous clocks for a friend of mine, and she recommended him highly. So, when I received an old German wall clock from my Dad, I called him about repairing it. Mr. Franks works from his home, and is extremely knowledgeable and courteous. He quoted me $350 to repair, and clean and oil the clock. I think the price he charged was high, but he did a wonderful job with the clock, and after 2 weeks, he was finished with it, and it keep perfect time.
Description of Work: Repaired a broken winding spring, and cleaned and oiled the wall clock.

 + -1 moreThe clock had not been working for years, and other repairmen had failed to successfully fix the problem. Now it works very well.
Description of Work: Mr. Franks picked up the working parts of a large grandfather clock, repaired them, and re-installed them in the case.
