MIGHTY MAIDS

I am exercising my freedom of speech and hope that by doing so others will be spared. Our home needed a thorough cleaning; we had just finished a major remodeling project and moving in. The details follow but the summary is: THEY ARRIVED 4 ? HOURS LATE WE WERE OVERCHARGED $120.00 THEY DID A VERY POOR JOB I spoke with the owner of Mighty Maids of Dallas. She said the charge was $120.00/hr. for FOUR people. She NEVER said that she would also be there and if she cleaned the cost would be more. She said they would be doing a "deep clean" which meant everything would be cleaned from the ceilings and air vents to the floors. I gave her a detailed description of my home, she said it should take 4 hours and that they would arrive at approximately 1:00 on the scheduled day. Here is what happened: 1. They didn't arrive until 5:30, that's 4 1/2 HOURS LATE. When they finally arrived I suggested we reschedule, we were already exhausted from working around the house but the owner didn?t want to, saying they were there, and didn't know when they could come back. As we had company coming the following day we relented. 2. When they finished at 9:00 PM the owner said they started at 4:30, exhausted, I said okay and paid for 4 1/2 hrs. (less a $20.off coupon) However the following day we saw that our doorbell, which video tapes and records activity shows they arrived at exactly 5:30, therefore we were OVERCHARGED $120.00. 3. Also, the following day, in the daylight I saw that our house was FAR FROM DEEP CLEANED. For example: ? The shutters in two rooms weren't touched ? No one touched the built in desk or shelves above it. ? The middle of the kitchen island and both sides of the range were not wiped down. ? A spill was left on the range. ? Just part of a bathroom mirror was cleaned. ? A glass shower panel was left untouched. ? No one cleaned behind one of the toilets ? The floors were poorly cleaned. I will say that the owner readily sent an employee to clean everything that was missed, but once again did a poor job, I gave up.

I use Mighty Maids to clean my house once per month. They charge $125.00 per cleaning and there are usually 3 people there to clean. My house is pretty clean when they leave. My biggest complaint has been their tardiness. Carol usually calls to tell me they are running late (almost every time), but I find it to be a bit of convenience especially since I like to be there to unlock and lock the doors and have often made plans around the scheduled arrival time. A weird thing has also happened a couple of times where I have found that my bathroom trash ends up in the recycling bin. I talked to Carol about it and it happened again! Not sure what that is all about. Last time I told them not to put anything in the blue bin and that seemed to work. I continue to use Carol and her team. They are friendly and polite and have been flexible with the day they come when I have needed to move it.

My regular housekeeper went out of the country for a family emergency just as we were putting our house up for sale, so I called Mighty Maids to step in. They were the only ones who agreed to do the job on such short notice. Carol was very prompt and understood my needs and concerns. I just wasn't impressed with the work, especially for the price. I had used a national, chain cleaning service at one point, and they only charged $75-$85/cleaning. My regular housekeeper charged $75. Carol made it sound like $125 was a bargain. At less than a week before our open-house, I had no choice but to go with that. In the end, Carol (or her crew) came twice before my housekeeper returned. I wasn't home for the cleanings, and never got to meet Carol or the other person she brought for the cleaning. The house was generally clean, but I still found dust in corners, and some of the cabinet surfaces had not been cleaned. For a good but average cleaning, I paid too much.
