The owner Mr. Roth said he didn't carry that much inventory and directed me to catalogues. After some consideration and coming back once more, I picked a lamp and paid full price for it with my credit card. Mr. Roth really wanted to make the sale and he promised that the supplier made the lamps here in Dallas and it would only be a couple of days until he got the lamp in. After five days, I called him and he said there was some kind of problem with the lampshade and to give him a couple more days. I did so but when he didn't call, I called again and he said he would call his supplier and call me back. I waited but he didn't call me, so the next day, I went to his store and asked why he didn't let me know something. He said it was because his supplier hadn't called him back. I said I didn't want to keep being put off and not told anything and that I would cancel the order. He became very antagonistic and said I was saddling him with a lamp he didn't want if I cancelled the order. I said that he shouldn't let his suppliers treat him that way because they hadn't delivered the lamp, as promised. He then had the additional effrontery to tell me that he had spent too much time with me (both times I was there, there were no other customers in the store), and that now he would have nothing to show for it. Made me feel horrible. I said he shouldn't have told me the lamp would be here in a couple of days and now it was 10 days since I ordered it. He replied that the lamp was coming from China!!! He said this without realizing he was either lying now or lying before about where the lamp would come from. In the end, he begrudgingly gave me a credit on my credit card, I think. I haven't seen the credit yet on my statement, but I did sign something, which I should have paid closer attention to but was so embarrassed and humiliated by the way he had treated and talked to me that I wasn't as careful as I should have been. I know the economy is bad but this was an awful, humiliating experience.
