The dealership still had the certificates and were not aware the J Douglas Design had decided NOT to honor the certificates. In my opinion, J Douglas Design should have recalled all unused certificates from the dealership, since obviously J Douglas Design had at one time honored the certificates. Since they were derelict in their duty as a professional business, they should have honored the certificate, rather than sending me out of the store with a very tepid "I'm sorry." I politely told J Douglas Design that they should inform the car dealership of their refusal to honor the certificates. They completely ignored me; didn't say a word. Rude to the nth degree! 2/21/2014: Park Place stands behind their statement and their reputation. 3/17/2014: I have discussed this issue with several people in the design business. Twenty-four years in business? J Douglas Design should learn the difference between *issuing* valid coupons and *redeeming* valid coupons.
Description of Work: I purchased a pricey car from a very reputable dealership and was given a $100 gift certificate from the dealership to be used at J Douglas Design, with J Douglas Design the original issuer of the certificate to the dealership. When I tried to use the certificate, the owners could not be bothered. "We haven't used those certificates in over a year. When did you get this?" April 13, 2013 was the date of the certificate, to expire 90 days thereafter. So the certificate was certainly valid.

J Douglas Design stopped offering the Park Place Preferred coupons in 2012 after Park Place Dealership contacted us to tell us they had finished using all of our coupons. They asked us if we would like to continue with the program and we opted out. The statement of the dealership not knowing we had decided not to honor the certificates isn't true. There were no coupons to honor or recall as we were told by Park Place marketing department in 2012 they had all been used. As for as telling the car dealership we weren't honoring the coupons, there was no reason to since they had already told us they were out of the coupons. That is why the coupon was considered not valid. We hadn't participated in the Park Place Preferred program in over a year as we explained to the customer. The customer was never ignored. We told him exactly the same thing and we were never rude to anyone. We have been in business for over 24 years and have an excellent reputation. We would kindly suggest that [removed member name] take this up with Park Place marketing department and we apologize again for the inconvenience this has caused him.
