Originally I called Hooper because the pilot light on my water heater would not stay lit. The plumber re-lit the pilot light, insisted nothing was wrong without completely checking the venting, and charged me $95.
The next time it rained, the pilot light went out again, and I called back explaining the problem I had called for a week ago had not been fixed. The person answering the phone assured me that there would not be a service charge since my original repair had obviously not been done. The same plumber showed up intending to re-light the pilot light and charge me another $95 dollars without even trying to find the problem. He assured me that and quot;the dispatcher don't know nothing and her word don't mean a thingand quot; insisting that I'd have to pay to have my pilot light re-lit. I insisted he check the heater. After about 10 min, he said the problem was I needed a new water heater, and my old heater was leaking. The heater was not leaking prior to the plumber's visit. I refused to pay the $95 dollars, since I couldn't see that he had made the repair requested. He called in to his boss and quot;Daveand quot; who said they'd bill me when they replaced my heater. Right. They did give a bid with decent prices -- but I did not trust them to do the replacement by that point.
Now, the water heater in question was old, and I was planning on replacing it soon. So, the second visit from Hooper may not have hastened its end at all. But the plumber and and quot;Daveand quot; were really most unprofessional and the experience was unpleasant.
I have used Hooper on numerous occasions in the past and never had an experience like that! They had always been prompt, professional, courteous and reliable. I don't know if this was an anomaly or if they are now under new -- and much worse-- management.

Flat fee of $140 no matter what's wrong with a toilet. Part cost $15, labor cost $140 plus an appearance fee. Seems excessive.

"I cant find this job in our system. We do charge a $55.00 service call, then we use a flat rate to determine the price, some commode repairs or less than $50 depending on the repair. According to the statement the quality of work was graded an A which is our expectations on every job we perform."

We like that Hooper is a local, small-ish business where you know the employees and they care about making your life easier and better. Tracy (plumbing) and David (HVAC) were quick to respond to our request for bids for our new home. They came with ideas and were willing to work with us on suggestions, taking into account how long we planned to stay in the home, the housing market, and our personal tastes. They presented us with different options in different price ranges, and worked along side us the 5 months of construction. They are willing to price things by line item, so that you can decide if you want to do work in stages, but they'll let you know work they can do at one time to save on time/labor/money down the line! They begin early and work late if necessary. You know the workers by name and I've trusted them in my home, around my kids and stuff without a worry. If they can't be there they explain and let you know. Once again, we were very pleased and will continue to use them for other projects.

I had to call over and over to get help with the service man that they sent to my home, and the service here at my home. I initially called about that I needed a handle for my outside turn off valve. The serviceman said he could fix it, and ended up leaving left me nothing but a screw, no new handle so I cannot use the turn off valve. I called initially about fixing leaks under my house. I had to have the man come back twice. The first visit wouldn't even go under my house to look though it was cleared for him and had the opening open. I asked not to charge my card without faxing me an itemized bil, which I still do not have after 5 requests. I did receive a lump sum bill saying all the leaks were fixed, and after hiring another plumbing Company there is still a leak under my house under the Master Bathroom today! The Hooper serviceman put on the bill that he reset my toilet, and he didn't and it is grouted to the floor and never moved. The work is still not done, they charged my card anyway, and I do not have an itemized bill still to date showing what I was being charged for. I do not recommend Hooper! They have been a nightmare to deal with and I still have no handle and a leak under my house after hiring them to fix these two things from the first call.

"Hooper Plumbing and A/C did several repairs at this home. The handle on the cut-off was not replaceable. She also had already had 2 other plumbing companies out, which is usually a red flag. We did pull and reset her commode. We only charged her for what we fixed. We have an excellant rating with the BBB, have been in business since 1923. We value our customers very much and regret anytime a customer is not happy and go to great lenghts to see that there satisfied. We feel we were not going to be able to satisfy this customer no matter how much we tried."

We had been putting off this replacement for some time, knowing we had a freon leak. Hooper has been out several times to top off our freon until we were ready for the install. You cannot ask for nicer people with more knowledge than these guys. We had several options given to us with a complete explanation of advantages and disadvantages of each, in terms we could understand. They also rerouted some duct work for us which was not done correctly by the contractor who originally built our house. What an unbelievable improvement! At the very least, this summer will be a lot more comfortable than the last one in our living room and kitchen, and it will be cool enough to cook again. That's $$$ saved right there! These guys were on time, polite, highly skilled, and cleaned up before they left. Such a refreshing experience for us! If you have to shell out money for home repairs, this is the kind of company you want to deal with. Highly recommend this company!!!

Great! They were out within a few hours and had the work done as quick as possible. Very friendly and even cleaned up after. Had been quoted $400 more from another bigger company. Price was very reasonable for the work that had to be done. Will be recommending them to our HOA to add as an approved vendor.

They have been out to my house a number of times. They seem expensive, but I think that is just the rate for plumbers. Their guys seem like they know what they are doing and they are always prompt. I would recommend them to other Angie's List members.

The repairman showed up right on time to check out my broken furnace. It turns out the motor needed to be replaced. The repairman explained that my 15 year old furnace should really be replaced rather than fixed, but since it was not financially prudent for me to do so I opted for him to simply replace the motor. He estimated it would cost between 400.00 to 500.00 to replace the motor and the final bill came up to 527.00.

I called two plumbing companies to get their pricing on coming out to look at the problem and possibly fix it. They had a cancellation and were able to come out in 20 minutes. 20 minutes later Roy showed up. He tested the water in and outside of the house and it turned out that we had low pressure in all rooms. He checked our meters and it turned out one of them was not turned all the way on. It was an easy fix but needed some detective work. Roy was very nice and pleasant. He spoke in a way that I could understand how water pipes flow through out the house. Roy made sure to take his shoes off when coming back inside even when I told him he did not have to and was courteous in every way. I had him look at the hardware in my guest bathtub. He readjusted the hot and cold valves because they were put in backward and gave me a little tutorial on how to remove the ones in the sink because I told him I was thinking about changing it out myself. I liked that he took concern to our dilemma and my lack of knowledge of "the pipe system" I would have Roy back should any other plumbing problems arise.

This plumber is someone we have used in the past and who we feel is very courteous and professional in the work that he does. We have always felt his prices are reasonable and he cleans up well when he is finished.
