This was an outstanding job in all aspects. Tom worked closely with us to get the cost of the job aligned with our budget. He and his subs were always prompt and courteous throughout the process. It can be very inconvenient to have a bathroom not working during a remodel such as this. Even though the bathroom was a "work in progress", every night the area was thoroughly cleaned and all work items were stored, allowing us to pass through and use our master closet without any problems at all. The attention to detail throughout the job was fabulous and the end product reflects that!
An example of that attention to detail and doing the job right... when the wallpaper was removed, a poor job of sheet rocking was discovered. Rather than simply patch it up, Tom took the extra time to carefully repair the sheet rock, which made the final look of the wall so much better.
In order to keep our costs down, we decided to keep our current tile. That created a challenge as we didn't have many extra pieces to use for the new shower pan. Tom worked with his tile provider and they did an great job finding a matching tile, even though the original tile was no longer made. Another excellent example of the attention to detail!
My wife and I are thrilled with our new bathroom and we would highly recommend Heckendorn Home Improvements to anyone considering a remodeling job!

The project I was expecting went a lot smoother than I expected. Tom is very professional and one of the neatest contractors I know. Everything was picked up and straightened up daily. Tom is very flexible on changes to be made during project. Everyone that was in and out of my house I felt very comfortable with and thought nothing of leaving my house while they worked all day. Tom is honest and trustworthy. I was truly appreciative of his concern for my animals that were indoors. What a beautiful kitchen and bathroom I have now thanks to Tom.

I have used Tom for over 20 years on various upgrades and maintenance projects and trust him without question.
This was, by far, the most extensive project. Bringing a 1950's kitchen into the new Millennium yet retaining the integrity of the original home. As with any remodeling project there were revisions and additions to the original proposed scope of work. Tom was receptive and willing to take on the added tasks and was pleasant yet realistic as to the added tasks and gave updates as to any added cost or time the new requests brought to the project.
Since we remained living in the house during the remodel, Tom made a point to leave the work space clean and uncluttered every evening and worked around our need for running water in the kitchen until it was absolutely necessary to remove the sink. All in all a great result was obtained and we are now working on a plan for a bathroom remodel. Tom will definitely be the man to call for that project as well.

I was pleased with the overall project. He improved the kitchen so much I think it is now the best part of the house from a structural point of view. He used sub contractors to do the work and he was able to keep all the jobs running nice and smoothly. He does a very good job in choosing who he is going to sub contract to do the job. I personally think that the way he works, he could manage multiple jobs at once.

He did a great job as far as craftsmanship and everything goes but he charged me $1200 a week. Sometimes he would charge me but never did any work for the week. He said he would make it up but he never did. I feel I paid him extra. I feel like he strung me along. I felt like I got ripped off. I didn't have any problem with any of his contractors but what he was charging me was over the top.

Tom himself charges you a flat weekly fee. The big thing with him is you don't start with him until the plans are nailed down. It wasn't his fault but as much as ours for wanting to change things. I even hired an architecht to to draw the plans. This involved all new cabinetry, plumbing fixtures and new floors in the kitchen, the laundry and the back play room. There were also painting and cabinet makers. The cabinets were custom made not store bought.
