This review is actually for Dallas Collision Center, which is owned by Goodson Acura of Dallas.  Goodson is getting this review because that's whose name was on my bill.  We took our Toyota 4-runner here for collision repair  on July 1st because they are an approved State Farm repair center.  We actually tried to drop the car off June 26th and June 29th but there were no rental cars available.  The repair work to the right rear quarter panel of the car was well done.  I have no problem with it.  However we also had the windshield replaced, which was poorly done.  20 miles down the road, a piece of vent below the windshield flies off, and I'm noticing a significant increase in wind noise because some of the window sealing was not re-installed.  In their defense they are re-repairing that work.  However, in addition to the poor quality, they did not even come close to completing this work on time and rarely returned phone calls or emails to provide feedback on the multiple delays.
They do have a nice lobby/waiting area but it doesn't make up for the poor quality and poor customer service.

I was very impressed by the customer service, attention to detail and promptness of Goodson. The front end of my car needed major repair. They gave us a completion date and held to it. Once we got the car back, it looked fantastic and was even clean inside and out. I would highly recommend using their collision center.

I asked them to give me the paperwork so I could go to the court house and pay tax, title and license separately as I'd financed the rest of the car and wanted to pay cash for this part. They said they couldn't do that and that I wouldn't save any money that way anyway. However, when I asked for a breakdown of their tax, title, license charges, they had included charges that had nothing to do with those fees - ie: wheel locks, door etching, destination charge, inventory tax, roads and bridges tax, storage tax. I'm glad I was curious enough to ask for a break down because it was much higher than what the court house had told me. It was their way of getting more money out of the consumer.

Overall, it was highly disappointing experience. I was in the market for Acura MDX with technology package and went to Goodson Acura on Thursday, July 26th around 6:30 PM for test drive and to get a quote. I was greeted by Michael Wells who routed me to Dawn for further help. Dawn was very professional and courteous. She took us for a test drive answered all of our questions. Around 7:30 or so, we started talking about the color, accessories etc. and quote for the car. We requested their best price and told them we will get back to them. That's when Michael walked in and started asking questions about our budget, monthly payments etc. Then he asked if we are looking to buy a car today and I responded positively and mentioned that we will buy the car if the price is right. Then, he started being little bit aggressive asking what was our price point. I did not provide him any number. I asked him to provide his quote and told we will get back to him once he provides his quote. He didn't seem willing to provide any number and we should have walked out at that time. Suddenly, in a very condescending tone, he said that he will give the car to us today for 39K and I immediately responded with yes and said that we will take the car today. That's when he started making excuses and asked us to come back tomorrow. I told him that we are looking to buy the car now and pay for now. Where is the need to come back tomorrow. Now, he didn't want to give the car at that price. This went on for couple of minutes and he finally starting packing up and asking us to come back tomorrow.While leaving, I asked him to give the quote and he started adding other charges / fees on top and gave us out of the door price of 45K which should have been close to 43K with his quoted price of 39K. I asked him to give the breakdown which he refused to give and said that he is providing me out of door price and why do i need breakdown. The whole behavior of Michael was very unethical and unprofessional.
Next day, Dawn called up and asked if we were still interested in the car. I said yes (with quoted price of 39K). She mentioned that she will get back to me in 10-15 mins.After 10-15 mins, their manager Bill called up and asked us if we would like to get the vehicle. I again responded yes and mentioned that i was quoted 39K and I would like to get vehicle at that price. Bill responded that he can give it to me for 40,900 bringing out of door price close to 45K. I gave him quick rundown of previous day's event at their dealerhsip with Michael and asked him to honor the price. He said he is aware of same but he can't honor that price. I mentioned about unethical approach of dealership and unprofessional behavior of their employee (Michael). He again apologized but said that they can't honor the price mentioned by Michael as dealership will be taking loss at that price. I thanked him for his call mentioning that I will buy the vehicle from different dealership at a different price but not for them for anything higher than 39K.
That weekend, I bought a vehicle from MacChurchill for 40.5 K who honored the price they provided to us over the phone. They even threw in couple of oil changes when I told them of my diasspointing experience.
I would suggest to stay away from Goodson acura based on my experience.

I loved that they were very quick about it - the whole appointment took less than an hour. They sent me a coupon, and it was about half the price of the place I normally take it to. The service advisor kept me in the loop throughout the stage. They found that the battery was not producing enough output, so they replaced the battery under warranty for free. I would rate them highly and would use them again in the future if necessary.

They were very accomodating from start to finish. I took a test drive of the car after work and they were very flexible as far as timing goes. I really liked the car so they worked with me on the monthly payment. When we were going through the process of signing the papers and what not it was quick and efficient. They explained everything thoroughly and I went home with a car that night. It was a very positive experience overall!

What they repaired was always done perfectly. No complaints about that. However, starting in early 2008, they started recommending repairs or preventative maintenance for all kinds of things that seemed unnecessary. Coolant temp sensor was failing, brake fluid needed to be changed, battery was not up to rated capacity, cabin air cleaner needed to be changed, and several others. They had what I call an "up-sell specialist" who came into the waiting room and tried to tell me why all these things needed to be done, and the cost for most of them was outrageous. For example, the cabin air cleaner does get dirty and needs to be replaced. I agree with that. They quoted a price of $189.00. I said no. I came back about three months later for state inspection and again they said cabin air cleaner was dirty (and it still was) and quoted a price of $99. I blew a gasket at the new price which was half of the previous quote and told them so. The up-sell specialist gave me a story about the reduced cost being a result of their new express service lane. They also quoted me a price of about $600 to replace and repack a CV boot that was torn and leaking. I went elsewhere after that. The battery that was failing lasted another 18 months. I bought a replacement cabin air filter for $14 and installed it myself in about 30 minutes. The next time I did it it only took 15 minutes. The other independent shop I went to suggested getting a complete half-axle (rebuilt) since the labor would be much less and just replacing the boot and repacking would not deal with dirt that might have infiltrated the CV joint and leading it to possibly fail soon. The total cost was $275 vs $600. The coolant temp sensor is still working fine. Bottom line for me -- I no longer trusted the Goodson Service department to repair only what was needed and not to try to rip me off with outrageous prices on simple service procedures.
