GOOD HOME INSPECTION

About us

Self Employed ASHI Certified Home Inspector, ASHI 244798. TREC License 4088. I have been in business since 1996. I do exceptional work and enjoy an excellent reputation. I stay current and provide a product that is way above industry standards. I do not use cryptic and/or generic reporting software, I write reports specific to the house that you are interested in. I do not hack out a report "on site", I spend our time at the house inspecting. I encourage my client to be present for as much or little time as my client deems necessary. My business model is one house a day, I will not race away from your house to inspect another. I write your inspection report that evening or the following morning and deliver your report via eMail PDF on the day after the inspection. I often supplement your report with additional images and information. And you can always call me after the inspection, whether to ask me questions about the inspection/report or to ask me questions about the house latter. Your call will always be welcome. 100% of my payment comes from you, my client. I do not accept payment or other incentives from Real Estate Agents or other service provider companies. I do not pay for referrals nor do I pay to be included to any list. I do not sell or trade your information, nor will I ask you to sign a waiver authorizing me to sell your information. For example; some home inspectors sell client information to Alarm Companies. I am the current Vice-President of the Texas Chapter of The American Society of Home Inspectors - www.ashitexas.org .

This company performed an inspection on a home I was selling and left the home with stickers applied to the electrical outlets and business cards stuck in the electric panel and in a container for documents about the house. Our interior design plan did not include having brightly colored stickers on over 22 electrical outlets inside and outside of the house nor did I want my home to become a billboard for Good Home Inspection. When i called and asked that he come by and remove these stickers he informed me that he could not come by for until after Christmas (2 months away). I then asked why he left the stickers and he said that he left them as a visual aid for his client who was considering buying that house. He then said that the stickers were not harming anything and if I wished to remove them, I was free to do so. We then ended the phone conversation. Yes, stickers can potentially harm a home in that it draws attention to the outlet causing prospective buyers to wonder why they are marked and what might be wrong. It also detracts from the look of the house. Both can cause potential buyers to shy away from buying. When a vendor comes into my house, I expect them to leave the house in the same condition as they found it or better. The house belongs to me and not the prospective buyer and nothing should be done to my house without my permission.

It went great. I felt total confidence with Bud and leaned a lot. When I had questions about some items, he told me not to hesitate to contact him. Which I did. He responded to my questions via email. When the seller balked at fixing a vent from the kitchen stove to just the attic because her contractor said it was within code, I called Bud to ask him his thoughts. He was firm in that this was not to code and not something that should be left to a contractor's word. Sure enough, checking with the city confirmed this was not properly installed during the kitchen remodel two years ago. The seller and/or contractor will have to get this corrected before closing. I don't blame the seller. I blame the contractor not knowing his job as much as my inspector knew his job. The fees charged were for a home inspection and a termite report and $60 for travel time and money. More than fair.
