Dry Cleaning Service
It was my misfortune to take my small area rug to Freeman's Village Cleaners. When I called around for prices they seemed to be at the high end, quoting $85 when others said around $60-65. However, with the positive reviews online I thought it might be wise to pay more to ensure better quality work. When I dropped off my rug they refused to give me a ticket or any proof that my item was in their possession. I was told with a smile that they were trustworthy. Feeling only mildly concerned I left still feeling they were, in fact, trustworthy. Today I went to pick up the rug and was surprised by the $110 bill!! He told me it wasn't his fault because the person they send their rugs out to charged more, and that cost had to be passed on to me, the customer. I reminded the owner that I was quoted $85 and he said "I can't help that. $110 please." I will never be back and will do my best to spread the word that they cannot be trusted. Dry cleaning is expensive enough as it is, but add to it dishonest practices and price gouging and you can quickly find your items being held hostage unless you pay their ransom! Avoid this place and go with somewhere that honors their price quotes.
As far as the quality of work, my shag carpet is now hopelessly frayed and still has traces of the dog poop I paid so dearly to have removed. Next time I'll just take it outside and spray it with a garden hose. I'd likely wind up with similar results.
