Ray and his daughter were very responsive in taking the job. I talked to him about the color of the stain that I wanted, he didn't really listen and put a stain down that was wrong and had to re-do it. Honestly, I can't remember the exact process as it was awhile ago but everytime I look at my floor, it annoys me. When he resanded the floor, he left his workers that were using a sander that had a bad pad and it left odd pattern all over the floor. He tried to say that it was the hand scraping....I know hand scraping and it wasn't.To finish, he sent a young relative over to do the staining and he and his co-worker did not do a good job. Spotches here and there, uneven staining. In the end, I guess I was too inexperienced at the time to voice my concerns and paid him the balance. The floor is a pre-finished veneer and when I got more actual hardwood done, that guy said that he wouldn't have even done the job. I would have rather someone tell me that than screw up the existing floor. I notice that he doesn't have any other reviews on here so maybe doesn't use this service. I have been waiting all these years to tell people about this and to beware. His actions were clearly negligent. I know that nothing gets done perfectly but he know it looked bad. He even made the comment of 'Someone dropped an egg' when he came to look at the staining.....I can figure this out as there is a stain blotch that looks like an egg. It is probably a common refinisher phrase.

"I will try and contact this member, and respond to her issues. This is July 12, 2012; it's the first time I have been on Angie's list. I will try and resolve any complaints she may have and get back with the resolution to this posting of work done. Then I will re-post any news later after trying to reach her. I'm sorry that you waited so long to say anything, please try and understand, since you did not contact me, I would be unaware you were upset all this time. Ray and his crew were prompt, efficient and careful. They screened off the part of the house they were working on and cleaned up after themselves. Ray was pleasant and clearly wanted to please (which he did beyond my expectations). This was our second experience with Ray. Last year his crew refinished our den floor. Both jobs were expertly done.

"Member and his wife were very pleasant to work for, they had asked me several questions as to how and when everything would be finished, I believe we finished right on time. We even came back at a later date and did some additional work for them. And this would go for any one out there working as a contractor, or just everyday life as a person, if you are willing to work with the person that is doing the job for you, and open for suggestions if there are any, things would go a lot smoother all the way through any job that might come up, We all make mistakes, I don't ever plan on mine, I don't know who does? But when it is seen, I have an old saying, if you can see it, then they can see it, FIX it! This way there aren't any issues. I don't have to make up excuss's, I'm kinda blunt when it comes to answers on flooring, reason for that...I had a lady ask me one day to repair some carpet in the middle of a room, take the old out of the closet and place in the livingroom, I kinda chuckled at the request, she asked me why, I told her it would not look very good, she said it's the same carpet! So I repaired it, walked back down to her office to collect, she asked how'd it look? I said it looks pretty bad to me, so she went to look..long story short, she said I'm not paying for that! I asked her if the work performed was okay, she by passed the question, saying it looks horrible, now the moral of the story was, I chuckled at her comment when she asked me to do the work,she thought I was joking when I chuckled, that will never happen again, I will have a stern face and say with out laughing, no it will not look good at all. I have learned over the years you have to make sure each answer is what they are looking for, if they do not understand, I keep trying until I get what I'm trying to do is understandable. Always ask questions if you have them, don't be shy, I'm not> I didn't know if there was a place to express some of the aspects of work anywhere, so I choose to inform anyone looking, thank you.
