 + -1 moreThe men doing the installation of the hardie plank siding did a good job, but required much more time than expected to complete the job due to their inexperience with the material. Mr. Leeper made inaccurate statements about the level of Hardie siding experience of the subcontractors to get the job which he later denied making. The 20% fee he charged to contract this job resulted in a much higher price for his service than he was worth. The best part of the experience was making contact with good, dedicated general carpentry men whom I will hire for future jobs without interfacing with Exclusive Home Services. I am very sorry to have gone to ServiceMagic.com to get bids. I truly messed up hiring Exclusive Home Services for this job.
Description of Work: I asked for bids for installation of about 4500 sq.ft of Hardie siding and 800 feet of soffit and facia online at www.ServiceMagic.com. One of the contractors who contacted me said he had a crew of men who were "experienced in installation of Hardie siding". We settled on an estimated price, but the crew of installers worked by the hour. The three installers worked hard and did a very good job, but required a great deal of time to complete the job. I asked them if they had installed much Hardie and was told by them that they had not. Mr. Leeper gave me a quote on the plank siding material the price for which I was able to beat at Home Depot! The job was interrupted twice by rain and one of the three men on the installation crew missed 5 days due to illness which accounts for some of the additional time the installation has required, but we are now starting the 6th week of what I was told would be a three week job. The painters can not complete their work because they are waiting for the back of the house to have the siding installed. When confronted with complaints about the delay, Mr. Leeper has excuses and arguments rather than results. I have resolved to never again use a contractor for any job!
