"We're sorry you were not happy with our estimation services, or the cost of the bid for your project. Considerable time was spent onsite, gathering details for a load calculation (to verify proper sizing), taking pictures, and getting measurements. All of this data is then reviewed by our in-house Master Electrician. Since you were unable to provide any blueprints, plans or even verbally verify that the multiple attics were connected, in some way, it was decided to quote underground. This was to avoid any possible issues during install, which could cause change orders, and result in headaches for both parties. The reason we did not enter the second-story attics was due to the knee-high blown insulation that extended to the doorways, prohibiting us from entering without making a mess. Since there was no guarantee of verification, it was decided, it would be preferable not to do so. As to the size of the generator quoted, we stand behind our analysis. You mentioned that you were quoted a 38kW for your 2900 square foot home in Florida. This was not an apples to apples quote comparison. Your home here in Plano, Texas, is more than twice the size of your home in Florida. Your home here is 7,141 square feet, with a pool, hot tub and 8 large outdoor tennis court lights, very different than the Florida property. Plano also has strict sound regulations, that add to the scope of work required, and thus added expense. This is why your quote included special sound fencing to ensure these regulations were satisfied. The gas and electric, at your Plano residence, are on opposite sides of the large property. To place the generator in the backyard, as required by the city, this meant long runs for both components. There is not a one-size fits-all generator, each project and the resulting scope of work is unique. Using a smaller generator would mean the use of extensive load management and possibly having the generator lock out the larger loads, like your A/C units. With an investment of this size most clients would not be happy with that possibility, especially during an extended outage or the heat of the summer, when you need them most. We are not always the least expensive, but in the end, you get what you pay for. We believe the best value is not always the cheapest product or service. We pride ourselves on excellent customer service, honest and fair pricing, and we stay with our clients for the lifetime of their generator. We have been servicing the DFW area since 1999, and care about our clients. Our goal is ensuring that the generator will work as designed, when it's needed most. We wish you the best of luck with your project. For your safety, we encourage you to get proof of the final city inspections, to verify everything installed meets code."
