Mary Rinne of Ebby Halliday helped me sell my Mom's house in 2013 after Mom passed away. The home was older and in a nice part of Dallas and would be either a redo or teardown. Mary and I discussed both of those options up front, to make sure I was OK with either, which I was. The house went on the market on 7/3/13 and we had 16 offers by the next day. Mary worked more than a few hours on July 4th to work through these offers and put the "last best offer" notice out there. She didn't have a good feeling about the highest offer but we did talk to them together on the phone and agreed the offer wasn't likely as serious or firm as we would like. Everything was going along smoothly with the confirmed buyer when we discovered that my long-deceased father who was divorced from my mother in 1966 was still on the deed. I was about to go into a tail spin with what the title company was requiring - two people who was sign an affidavit that to their knowledge my father had no other children beside me and my brother. Daddy passed in 1976 and everyone I know that he knew was also long gone. (Finally got my aunt and oldest cousin to do this.) Mary talked me through it, explained why it was necessary, kept in touch with the title company and the buyer's agent as we worked through it. She made me feel that although this wasn't the norm it wasn't unreasonable or unheard of. The market was very hot in 2013 and we got more than the listing price for the house. I appreciate Mary's hard work, honesty, knowledge and support during this process and will definitely use her again when I buy my next home.
