"I apologize for not posting a response earlier, but instead of contacting me personally about this issue in 2006 you chose to post comments on Angie's list without asking any questions and not knowing the legal facts or State laws. Here are the facts - you have a $450,000 pier and beam home. One of the most difficult, time consuming and expensive of all homes to correctly treat for subterranean termites. You had a termite infestation - although no live termites were found there was no previous termite treatment indicating still active termites somewhere in the home. State law by the Texas Structural Pest Control Service dictates that we must provide you with complete consumer disclosure including a structural graph, any notes including scrap wood or debris that is under the home, along with an acceptable State mandated treatment of either a partial or a spot treatment. There is no such thing as a "preventive termite treatment" on an existing structure - especially one that has existing termite damages with no previous treatment. Any company that told you they were performing a "preventive treatment" on your home with visible termite damages and no previous treatment not only broke Texas State Law because there is no such treatment legally, they could be liable for deceptive trade practices. The price that was given to you to treat your $450,000 home was only $3600. You did not mention if you received other quotes, but if you did not I can assure you that the price was very fair. We do not rip our customers off by over charging. The sales inspector that was sent to your home does not even work on commission - he is salaried and has been employed by us since 1983. To make a comment that we overcharged you when the price is well within and probably on the low side of industry standards, and comparing our price to a $500 price is not comparing apples to apples. $500 to treat your home would not even pay for the chemical. Instead what you received was a substandard spot or a partial treatment at best. What amazes me is that you installed an $18,000 wood floor thinking that your $450,000 house was protected by termites for $500. Termites eat wood and they also eat wood floors. I would hate to think that termites could be chewing away at your beautiful wood floor and your home. I have only recently found your post (5-14-09) and must ask you to reconsider your position on this matter. Your remarks about us being dishonest and overcharging you are false. If anything, the company that told you they were doing a $500 "preventive treatment" is dishonest and has done you a huge disfavor. Again, I apologize for such a long delay but was only recently informed of your post on Angie's List. We are a family owned company, we abide by all laws and regulations and satisfied customers are our best advertising. Your remarks would make people question our ethics and we are not the bad guys in this situation. In fact I would be willing to personally visit your home and discuss this and re-inspection with you. Unless properly treated, you home is still at risk. If you feel that anything I have told you about your treatment or State laws is incorrect, feel free to contact the Texas Structural Pest Control Service. We have no complaints with them for 40 years. That's how we do business. Respectfully, Ron Dawson Jr. 214-349-2847"
