All I needed was for my sprinkler system to be serviced going into autumn, plus there was a head in front that had come loose, resulting in a geyser when the sprinkler cycled on. I called the manufacturer who installed the system and they provided me with the phone number for Complete Landsculpture in Dallas.
Issues (#3 is the major one and the reason for the poor rating):
1) The large group of guys seemed to speak no English whatsoever, making it impossible to show them where the problem sprinkler head was. They were here just shy of one hour then, as I was passing a window, I saw that they were in their truck and realized they were leaving. I went outside to see what they had done and if they were finished. Even with the language issue, I thought they'd have a receipt they would leave, if only to show they had been here. Nothing. I called the office, but they weren't able to help, saying that I would receive a bill that showed whatever work had been done. I explained that this bothered me because I could potentially be charged for work I wasn't aware of and, consequently, hadn't authorized.
2) Late in the day, I happened to walk through the garage and saw that the sprinkler box door was slightly ajar. When I went to close it, I saw an "inspection report" folded up and tucked inside -- the guys had left it. It seemed to indicate that two heads were repaired (I was only aware of one broken) and that they had changed two heads (no idea why -- only one was a problem). Interestingly, the details were all written in detailed English
3) The biggest issue and why gave them 1 star: several weeks later, the bill showed up. I had been quoted a labor rate of $75 per hour, yet the bill stated $183 for labor. The guys were here less than one hour (7:30 - 8:24 am, to be precise) -- clearly, the math wasn't adding up. I tried calling several times, but no one returned the call. So I finally just wrote a note on the bill and mailed it to them. When Craig called me (today), he sounded pretty ticked that I was questioning his bill. He said that they charged me drive time, in addition to the time the guys were actually here. When I scheduled the appointment, I specifically asked about their hourly labor rate and was told it would be $75/hour. At no time was I told they would also charge for drive time just to get to my house or I would never have used Complete Landsculpture..
So, doing the math, $183 divided by $75 hourly charge means they charged me for two hours and 44 minutes -- so it took two hours to make the drive to my house? From Sandy Lane in Dallas which, according to Google Maps, is 18 miles from my house and would seem to indicate that they left their office around 5:30 am. It simply isn't adding up.
The total bill was $206.81 as follows:
Glue, primer, miscellaneous $5.00
Labor $183.00
1 sprinkler part $18.00
Tax $1.81
Very disappointed.

I've been using Complete Landsculpture to maintain my sprinkler system for at least 10 years. I believe they are honest and thorough on the work performed on my property. I don't have to be present for these calls. They know where the controller is and they run the tests and fix the broken heads then bill me. I'm very satisfied with this provider.

I will start by saying the final product looks great. However, the process to actually get an estimate and have the work performed was excruciating. We first contacted Complete Landsculpture in early April. It took several days for a sales rep to call us back. Our rep came out on a Tuesday and indicated he would have an estimate to us by Friday. I did not receive one, so I contacted him on Monday the following week. We received the estimate the next day. We reviewed the plan, made some adjustments and sent over our plot survey two days later. We expected to have drawings by the end of the week so we could submit them to our HOA. At each intersection of the project there was an overall lack of response to both emails and voicemails. It took from April 22nd until May 1st to receive drawings. While this may not be an issue for some, we are required to submit plans and have them approved before any work is done. We had work scheduled for Monday May 5th, so receiving drawings with only one full business day to get them approved put us in a tough situation.
We had tree work scheduled for the morning of May 5th. At 11:00 am I received an email from our rep saying that the tree trimming had been pushed back due to delays from other jobs, would not be completed that day, and had been rescheduled for Wednesday May 7th. We had also scheduled the landscaping to be completed that day, so I emailed back asking if that was going to conflict having both crews there. I did not receive any response to that email. At 6:51 am on Tuesday our rep sent an email saying the tree crew was able to come out early and they were on there way. Since I do not check my email at 6:50 am, I was awoken by people at my front door at 7:00 am. While I found it very frustrating to receive a 10 minute notice so early in the morning via email (particularly with a general lack of communication up to that point) I have to say the tree trimming crew did a very good job and the trees look excellent.
As scheduled, the landscaping crew came out the next day to complete the project. They did a very good job and it turned out well. When I arrived home Wednesday I was thrilled at how the yard looked. However, with no correspondence, an additional crew arrived at my home on Thursday morning. I asked the crew what they were there to do and they indicated they were working on the sprinkler system. I knew that was part of the bid, but assumed it was taken care of Wednesday. When I arrived home Thursday, I again thought the work had been completed. However, once again with no correspondence, another crew arrived Friday. Unfortunately I was not home at the time and did not connect with them. I received a call from a crew member that stopped by and we made arrangements for him to come out Monday - apparently to work on the sprinklers again. He came out Monday and replaced two sprinker heads - something that took about 10 minutes.
Overall I am happy with the end result, but the complete lack of communication was incredibly frustrating. It has been several months and one of the plants that was transplanted from another area of the lawn has died. Apparently because it is not a plant they brought in it is not covered and they will not replace it - despite the fact that it was healthy prior to it being moved.
I also contacted my rep about redoing our driveway and power washing / restaining the back deck. It took over a week to return the first voicemail about the new project, several more voicemails and emails over the past few weeks and I finally (after almost a month) received an estimate yesterday. It is almost double the other estimates I received for the same project. I will not be using this company again and would not recommend them in the future due to the communication issues and pricing.

Well, here it is six months
later. Well over half the plant material you installed is dead, the rest looks
like crap. The sprinkler heads your inept crew was to have fixed, after three
tries, had to be fixed by a professional installer, not incompetents. Investigation
of the soil material you were to have installed showed only a few inches of
mulch cast over the original soil. It was not mixed in, nor even in contact
with the new plants. You made zero follow ups to comply with your
guarantee. All in all, a complete sham, a joke and I fell for your aggressive
sales effort. I should have known better. And, you wanted to charge me $500.00
to haul away what would have fit in my garbage can. How much do you charge for
hauling away your despicable effort?
You and your organization are
crooks, and I will pursue with great vigor my options to compensate.

They were having a sale on the service so we wanted them to do the work. He was able to come out first thing in the morning. One technician came out to do the work and he was on time for the appointment. It took him about an hour to install everything. I was happy with service and it all looks great.

They definitely did a lot of work, but I was a bit disappointed that they didn't remove ANY of the stumps of the trees they removed. Overall, I felt like I got a lot of work for the money, so I didn't say anything, but I did feel like the job was a bit incomplete in that sense. Even so, I would definitely hire them for this kind of work again. They were very accommodating and offered to do any trimming work we wanted within the time alloted. They did call to let me know when they had to reschedule or were late - these things happen and I was just glad to have the call instead of a total no-show.

We could not have asked for a better experience. We were in a rush to get this done and Gene's crew got it done by the date we requested and all work was performed exactly as they said it would be done. They took the exterior of our home from nice to spectacular. We have had nothing but glowing comments from everyone who has visited.

They showed up when scheduled, maintained contact with me throughout the job and took good care of my property. Each day the work area was left orderly and the equipment and supplies out of the way. I enjoyed working with them and plan to have them back to work on another section of my back yard.

Within a week of the installation, MANY plants began to die. I called to get replacements, since I had a warranty. No reply. I left message after message. It wasn't until the initial warranty period was over that Complete began an aggressive campaign to collect the second half of the money I owed them. I thought that was interesting. They were totally unresponsive to me until the initial warranty period was over. When we were in court later, the judge brought up the same point, since their own records proved this. Finally, after several months of begging, and refusing to pay them unless they replaced my dead plants, Complete sent a couple of guys over with some plants, who came over unannounced, when I wasn't home, and jumped my fence, and planted a few replacement plants, but not anywhere near enough to replace all of those that had died. They left muddy bootprints all over my stone walkway, and up and down my painted wood fence where they jumped in and out of my side garden. It was very clear that : a) many of the plants were very unhealthy when they were originally planted. b) because many of the plants needed full or partial sun and were not getting ANY sun, they were not doing well at ALL. c) many of the plants could not possibly get sufficient water because of the design of my sprinkler system. Thus, these idiots had failed at the most basic concepts of landscape design and installation. In the end, they refused to fix the problems, and I refused to pay them the other half of their money. So they sued me. Before we went to court, I hired another company, Grow It!, to come out and take a look. Remember Juan, the guy who transplanted my crepe myrtle? He hooked up with another former Complete employee and they started their own company. When they came over, they dished out all the dirt on Complete (pun intended). They told me about how Complete steals good specimens and resells them to other customers, as I explained above, and how they grossly overestimate the number of plants or the amount of soil or peat moss, or mulch, and sell that amount to the customer, only to take all of the unused portion (often half of it is not used), and then re-sell the remainder to another customer. I showed them my estimate of how much dirt, mulch and peat moss they had ordered for my job. They almost died laughing. They demonstrated to me, ON VIDEO, how much of each I really needed for my job, and the fact that I had been totally ripped off. That video was used as evidence in the trial. I ended up needing my entire sprinkler system revamped, and I had about a hundred new plants installed, but in the proper places after a shade analysis. I countersued those dumb-a**** and won the whole thing. They ended up paying my attorneys fees and everything. COMPLETE IS A NASTY, NASTY COMPANY. BEWARE!

The entire scope of the project was well done. The repairs and sealing to the fence made a 15 yr old fence look new-- The sprinkler system was adjusted to accomodate the new plantings and walkways. Everyone on the project was very polite amd went out of their way to keep everything neat. The men from CL working in and around the yard had to accomodate other workmen and sawdust on the patio from repair and replacement of interior wood floors.

I really love the way the work looks from Complete Landsculpture. Their prices are on the higher side. The price includes professional landscaping, drawings, and talking about plants. It isn't just the standard landscape job. We have been very happy with them! We had them 5 years ago, and are just now having them back for more work.

The person that was doing the work quit working for the company. It took them two and a half months to do the work. They didn't show up to work on time everyday. They cleaned up everything when they were done working.

It was quite a bit like babysitting. I had to monitor my own contract and ask, call, and beg them to do the things that were agreed on in the contract. Et al, fertilize, trim shrubs, and on and on. They broke boards on my new fence. They scratched a car squeezing into a small space rather than going around to the main gate. They were sloppy and careless. This company was contacted on numerous occasions to correct their wrongs. I finally sent an email to the owner, without any resolution or feedback. This company was referred to me by a company I found on Angie's List. I tried unsuccessfully to have them do some 'landscaping.' I needed plants and flowers planted, and some stone work...never could get anyone to commit to do it or contact me. It was always ok I will call you. I am still waiting on a return call from July 2007. This company is completely unorganized and without leadership. If anyone is using them at the present, please look at your contract. I feel confident they are not upholding their end of the bargain. I would never recommend them to anyone. The only plus is that they did arrive every week.

THE WORK WAS DONE PROFESSIONALLY AND ALL PERSONNEL WERE FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL. I HAD SOME REWORK DONE AFTER THE JOB AND THEY CAME OUT AND TOOK CARE OF IT PROMPTLY. THEY DID LEAVE SOME TRASH IN THE YARD AND APPEARED TO TRAMPLE SOME PLANTS.
