Colonial Van Lines is a fraudulent company! I was quoted $5,833.76 for my move from Pennsylvania to Nevada but was charged an outrageous $7,481.70—an overcharge of $1,647.94! Colonial Van Lines and their agent office, JR Moving Corp., have proven to be completely negligent and careless in their service. On top of that, only one mover showed up to unload my belongings, forcing me to do the heavy lifting myself. This is unacceptable! Their customer service is non-existent, and they clearly don’t care about their clients. Avoid Colonial Van Lines if you don’t want to be scammed!

Where is our stuff!!????? Colonial has had all of our belongings in storage for 8 weeks now. Plenty of time to plan logistics and schedule our delivery. We are now outside of our moving window with no hope in sight. No one can give us a straight answer on when we can expect our stuff. A pitiful $30 a day barely begins to pay for the inconvenience. I wish I could go back in time and never use this company or get a full refund. Will we ever get our belongings?? And will it be destroyed as all of these other reviews say?? I need answers!

Poorly, but this review is specifically for the resolutions manager, Donna, who assisted us after our poor experience.

Worst moving experience ever. While the people at Colonial that I spoke with on the phone were very nice, I was fooled into thinking they were a regular moving company. They sub-contract out the actual moving, so the quality is VERY low. They also estimate low, in order to get the business, and then slap you with the huge bill at the end, when you have no choice but to pay it. Our price was $2,000 over their upper level estimate. When the movers FINALLY arrived after multiple delays, there were only 2 guys, and slow moving ones at that. They had no equipment except for the dolly that came with the truck they rented, and a few moving blankets. We complained about there only being 2 guys, and they said they'd make sure there were 4 guys to unload. When they arrived hours late to unload, it was the same 2 guys. They put stuff everywhere, even though the boxes were clearly marked, and stuff was just thrown in the rooms, making it very difficult to even make room for beds in the evening. The worst of it was the damage they did to our brand new kitchen floor dragging a metal dolly across it, and the damage to our furniture and appliances because they did not have the proper equipment to protect our items. Our nearly new refrigerator has scratches all over the front of it. Our dining room table has big gouges out of the top. The dryer won't work because the top was damaged. A bookcase is broken, and the leather couches have big places rubbed off the sides. All this damage happened because they were not professional movers and were totally unequipped to protect our things. Don't use Colonial Van Lines. It was massively expensive and terrible, terrible service.

Initially the set up of the move went well. When our furniture was delivered all but one piece of furniture had various degrees of damage; from minor to major. A $400.00 mirror was totally destroyed. I packed a collection of Italian and French pottery myself and carefully wrapped and packed 40 boxes. All but a small pasta bowl arrived in perfect condition, because i took my time and packed my precious possessions carefully. I expected the movers to also move the furniture in a professional manner. The movers had no respect for the furniture at all. I completed forms and sent pictures three months ago. On 3/18 i received notification the claim was approved for $127.60. This is a ridiculously low appraisal. I was not aware Colonial Van Lines co-contracts their moves. A truck with a name i didnt contract with picked up our furniture. I hope i can stop someone from making the same mistake we made choosing this company.

I haven't had drop-off yet, but I feel like I have had good contact with everyone.  The Mover, had to manuver the truck into driveway, a little tricky , given wires and driveway and the road. they got things packed up and ready to go in 5 hours. Driver went over all the paperwork. with me. So far so good.

I showed a lawyer the contract, and he said it was a very loose but binding contract that said it was a binding estimate.  The night before, they called me and said the weight of the truck was so tremendous, they had to have an additional $3,083 before they could take it off the truck.  If I did not pay this amount, I would have to pay an additional storage fee.  After I settled all of this, they told me at the end of everything, they would give me a final estimate.

My furniture was not packed properly.  They broke items, finishing came off, and scratches were everywhere.  The whole experience was horrendous.  I still do not know if I will be charged again.

Their driver never showed up, and they said that he would be there the next day, but he never showed up. We waited four days for him, but he never showed up. The whole time we were in contact with their customer service people, who weren’t there on weekends, to find out what was happening. We were sitting around the house with all our boxes, waiting, and they never showed up. We had been dealing with them for the last few months regarding the move, and they had half our money. We didn’t use them, and thankfully, we did get all of our money back. We ended up using all of our friend’s help, and hiring a truck from U-Haul.

They were late and the dependable auto shippers were late with my car and I had a damaged tire but today the problem was resolved and taken care of. They are going to send me a check for the damaged tire. They used a penske truck to move me which I was going to do myself so why would I have hired them. They are nation wide a fairly big company. What they do is contract out people that's why I wouldn't recommend. They delivered my stuff three weeks ago and they were moving my things from Michigan to Dallas to a storage unit. So I would say packing into the truck and unloading and they were very careless and I can't even get in my storage unit right now because of they way they packed it. They were rude and I caught them in actual lies. They told me they couldn't back up and they had to get within 75 feet of your house or where ever they are picking things up and so I'm thinking when I had somebody at the other end at my house in Michigan that they couldn't pull up to my house but I'm thinking if they can't pull up to a normal regular neighborhood house they said they couldn't pull in 75 feet so I thought they had the big van line and I have a witness to that too which was my friend on the other end and when I pulled up I'm thinking what they couldn't pull up they had a little penske truck. I would have to do it myself next time. They came three days late so I paid for a rental car for three days.
