They surveyed our property twice within two weeks, one was the original and the other was a revision. A corner point location between the two surveys differed by 8-9 inches. Yes, two separate measurements that differed by .7-8 feet, not 2-3 inches. Background. The property next door was sold, house demolished, and foundation framing started so we decided to get a boundary survey after seeing the house would dominate the lot and with feet of our property. We hired CMG to survey our property. After receiving the survey, we compared it with my neighbor’s survey. Along our shared property line, the corner point location differed by about 8 inches between the surveys. I contacted CMG to discuss this with my neighbor’s surveyor. CMG revised their previous survey which then aligned to my neighbor’s survey and the corner point was changed by 8 inches. I asked the supervisor at CMG how they could survey the same property twice, within two weeks, and come up with two very different locations for the NW property corner point. I considered an 8 inch difference between two measurements to be excessive and unreliable. CMG told me they used the same data as my neighbor’s surveyor for my revised survey. And that made sense. If you put in the same data and use the same method to calculate the locations, you better get the same result. He also told me that he signed the survey so it has to be trusted. I explained that he signed the original survey, which was intended to be the only survey, so it was to be trusted. The second survey was a revision of the first to resolve a conflict, and it too was signed. At that point, I decided to hire someone else to resolve the problem. I can only understand their revision as a way to avoid a legal conflict, not as a reliable survey to use for protecting your property.

They were scheduled to arrive at my home April 4th at 12pm. They rang my doorbell on April 3rd at 7:15am in the morning and would not leave until I had to shut the door on the man. He just said "Hey I'm just doing my job!!" They did not come on the scheduled day April 4th. They came again on April 5th- at 7:30am in the morning. I was getting dressed and saw someone standing in front of my window!!! Unprofessional, disrespectful and very scary!! You never know when they are coming and what they are doing. Who rings your doorbell at 7:15am in the morning- unannounced and will not leave! Who stands in front of your window at 7:30am in the morning - unannounced..... CBG Texas Survey does.

Our neighbor would not let us take down a fence bordering our properties even though indications were that the fence was just inside my property line. I called a different company that had performed an earlier survey of my property. They made their measurements using tape and I was unhappy with the error that could result from their technique. I was looking for accuracy within an inch or two and the slackness of the tape over 70ft did not inspire confidence. CBG was able to get someone out to survey my property within 2 days of my calling them. They did their homework and came by at the appointed time to set up their equipment. They were able to mark the edge of my property to a high degree of accuracy which jived with the laser measurements I had made earlier. I was happy with their professionalism.

They got back to us quickly and dealt primarily through the title company.  It was a smooth transaction for us.  We would recommend them.

They did everything they said they would with a great price. Their office staff is helpful too.

Because of CBG's relationship with a "predecessor" company, I used them as the predecessor company, which is no longer in business, had done an older survey of my house when I purchased it.  The initial phone call went great with Lois and she was more than happy to find my old survey in her records.  The site visit was done within a few days and I received both an electronic copy and several hard copies in the mail as well.  The only reason I gave them a B for quality and not a A, is that I previously had two metal outbuildings on my property, but have subsequently removed one a couple of years ago.  The new survey I received still showed both metal buildings.

Update:  Found an issue with their survey that I ultimately decided to hire another survey company at my expense to provide a new survey to correct.  Moving quality rating to C.
