Luke, who has been servicing our pool for the last ~1.5 months has done an outstanding job! He explains clearly what's going on with the pool and knows how to service a salt pool.
We also had to have a control board replaced by one of their techs, Jeff. He was great too. He explained what was going on and then provided a quick fix.
These professionals are what we as customers hope to get. Blue Science is now delivering that.
I advised blue science that I did not want the same tech coming out as he was not capable of providing the agreed to services.
Blue Science continued to send techs who were lax in their skills and only checked the chemicals and may or may not empty a basket,
I cancelled their services approximately three weeks after the initial visit, as the job was consistently done partially and I was constantly on the phone asking them to provide the agreed services.
I cancelled the services over the phone. The tech did show up through the month of Decemeber as that month was paid for. In January, I received charges for anoher full month of services. I left two voicemails stating I wish a refund and sent an email notification. I received no call back or action on this problem. I had to again phone live and speak to a person and request a refund that day. After these efforts, the refund was processed.
In my limited experience, If you are looking for a trouble-free pool cleaning service then I suggest to look elsewhere.
I worked in law enforcement for 30 years, and he suggested that I cancelled my pool service and must have been and quot;confusedand quot; about my last call! and quot;Johnathanand quot; claimed I was confused--this service is beyond confused and attacked me for their failure to show up to service the pool. Steer clear of this Blue Science.
"[member name removed], Thanks for the feedback. I am really glad that you had a good experience with Mark! Our records showed service was previously cancelled per a conversation with Zach Sammons due to not having a payment method in place. It sounds like you understood you were still on service – I’m very sorry for that confusion! We did not service the pool those 2 weeks before I called because we did not have a payment method in place. Sincerely, Jonathan Jonathan Ormesher General Manager 214-453-2735 Office 972-386-3823 Fax [email protected] http://www.bluescience.com"
Techs changed almost weekly. We seldom had the same guy more than two weeks in a row, thus the specialty needs we had got skipped or ignored. Often left "off their schedule" even though we signed up for a regular weekly service.
This is a Dallas based group who moved a franchise here. Bad mix. While the local 'owners' seem like fine folks, the system or program they run is bad.
We're swapping providers. We're just too tired of dogging this service week after week.
Normally, I would have left the customer service issue with Blue Science alone, but when I found out that I paid for that manifold (which was desinged for another filter system other than the kind I have) and that this new company was going to charge me $105.00 to replace it, I IMMEDIATELY got on the phone and called Blue Science. After leaving a couple of messages and not getting a call back, I sent an email to Gabe, the owner of the company. I let him know what happened that had caused me to stop using his services and that now I had to replace an incorrect manifold that they had installed. If anything, I was only hoping (I did not demand or even ask) for them to replace the manifold that was installed in error. Within 10 minutes, I had an email from Gabe profusely apologizing for everything and asked if he could send a tech out to my house to look at the manifold.
I accepted his offer and was satisfied with that - if it was the incorrect manifold, they were going to replace it. I waited to hear back in regards to setting up a date/time for the tech to go out and look at the filter/manifold - no word back on an appointment time. The very next day, as I was driving home, I got a call from the pool tech at Blue Science - he told me that he was just getting ready to leave my house (I didn't even know he was going out there that day) and that he had a) confirmed that the incorrect manifold was previously installed and that he replaced it with the proper part b) recharged my filter with DE c) brought my timer box back up to code so that it is no longer a and quot;hazardand quot; as deemed by the previous pool company d) fixed the broken hose on my Polaris pump that the guy from one of the other pool companies broke e) cleaned my pool out again (better than the last company) and rebalanced all of my chemicals. All of these services were done for me at no charge - they even offered to reimburse me the $200.00 the guy from the second pool company charged me to drain my pool (which I declined). I told the tech and later told Gabe that this wasn't about the money - I was completely surprised and again, that at most, I was only hoping they would do the right thing and replace the manifold.
That kind of service, what Gabe did for me, you just don't find that level of service much these days. You don't often find a business owner who takes that much interest in taking care of his customers, and I really appreciate that. Needless to say, after a month and a half of this nightmare going between 3 pool companies, the algae, the equipment issues, I am back on the schedule with Blue Science and I do not intend on leaving again for as long as I own my home.
"[member name removed] - We've not been able to reach you yet to try to resolve this. I'm sorry you had a bad experience over the 4th of July and there was some algae on additional weeks around that holiday. Please give me a call at 972-953-6261 and I'll be happy to get this resolved for you as far as the credits. We wish we could have kept you as a customer... our records show we were just a few weeks away from having served you for 1 year! - Gabe Ullmann"
"(Member name removed) - Zach is calling to see how to resolve this for you. I see you are still on service but want your money back for the last 3 months? We care very much about all our customers having a great experience and will resolve this for you."
From what I gather, the chlorinator actually wasn't working properly after the repair in February, but because it was cold out and less sunny, the chlorine readings merely fluctuated, not taking a huge nosedive until spring. Then the cleaning tech tried to fix it himself without reporting it. Then he did report it and tried a week or two of suggested fixes. These didn't work, so the Blue Science explained that they would charge me a reduced $39.99 for a service call to diagnose the problem. Their original repair was only under warrantee for 30 days, which I get, but it seems like the chlorinator wasn't working properly from the start, so shouldn't it be covered? They thought not. I had the repair work done by another company and am considering looking for someone else to do the weekly cleaning. The only thing stopping me is that their weekly partial cleaning and chemical balancing service comes at an excellent price for what they do. Plus, despite the pool cleaning tech not reporting the problem with the fluctuating chlorine levels, he's the same guy that comes out every week, is reliable, and professional. When I ask him questions, he's happy to explain things and show me what he's doing to my pool, which is good for a 1st time pool owner.
So, all in all right now, I have mixed feelings about Blue Science. I want to give them the benefit of the doubt.
The only complaint I have is when I called them for an estimate for a repair, as I would love to do business with only one pool
company if I can and the other repair service I have used in the past (you can look at my other review) does not do weekly pool service. The estimate I recieved from Blue Science was over $150 more than the estimate I got from my other pool repair company and even the resulting total cost of the repair I got done. That was a huge difference since the job was approx a $600 job. I did call Blue Science back in order to see if we were comparing apples to apples and and quot;yesand quot; we were. The other company never even knew I called anyone else for an estimate before they gave me theirs so there was no influence to beat any price, this was just the difference. So if doing repairs, I would get a second estimate to verify costs are in the ball park but if you choose Blue Science, I have no doubt the work would be done quickly and most important correctly! I kept the rating for price an and quot;Aand quot; as the price for what I use them for is a good one.
I love this company and their employees and would use no other for my weekly pool service!
LITTLE DID I KNOW THAT BLUE SCIENCE KEPT MY CREDIT CARD INFORMATION ON FILE. BEWARE! THEY DO NOT REVEAL THIS NOR DO THEY ASK YOUR PERMISSION!
We refilled the pool Saturday and Sunday. Monday, Blue Science was to come out and replace the pump as they said they could not simply replace the capacitor. I was not home when they showed up Monday afternoon to install. I got a phone call from the technician making light of the fact that he and quot;burned out the boardand quot;. He said, and quot;that's the first time I have ever had that happenand quot;. He immediately went into a sales pitch about me purchasing a wireless system for over $1400, since he burned out the board and he was not going to be able to get the pool running like it was before. They left my house Monday with the new pump not working and left the damage to my pool equipment. NOBODY BOTHERED CALLING ME! THEY ABANDONED THE POOL! NO MANAGER CALLED, NOTHING! NO ONE TRIED TO DO THE RIGHT THING AND MAKE THIS RIGHT! Not only that, BUT THEY KEPT MY CREDIT CARD INFORMATION ILLEGALLY ON FILE ON FRIDAY AND WENT AHEAD AND CHARGED MY CARD ANOTHER $1415.00!!!
In the meantime, we are in the middle of our move....an already stressful time.
We make calls AND emails to Blue Science, an entire week goes by and the pool is still not working and nobody at Blue Science even bothers to help. Why should they? They already took the money! Instead Blue Science sends me estimates on what it will cost for them to come back out and fix what they destroyed! THE ESTIMATES TOTAL $2,107.71!!!!! I decide to call 2 LICENSED pool companies to get opinions on what was done to my pool and how to fix it. Both pool companies were shocked at what Blue Science's technician did to my pool equipment. ANOTHER week went by of 2 of us calling AND emailing Blue Science, still with zero results. I could not wait any longer at that point, on Thursday the 20th, I hired one of the LICENSED pool companies to fix my pool. On Thursday, they re-wired everything as they said Blue Science had disconnected wires and disconnected relays. They showed me what was done. When the LICENSED pool company re-wired everything, they got the new pump up and running. They communicated and problem solved effectively (and I will be giving them a RAVE Review on here too!!!). The LICENSED pool company said that Blue Science did burn out the board, but they could order that board and replace it for me. The LICENSED technician said if it was his pool, he would not replace this system with a wireless system when it will work just fine with a new board. Friday the 21st, the LICENSED pool company came and replaced the board and HOORAYYYY the pool is working!!!!!!
As a side note, FINALLY 2 WEEKS LATER, on Friday the 21st, the manager at Blue Science emailed me to see if we could have a and quot;discussionand quot; on Monday the 24th. I appreciate finally being contacted by a manager; however, the damage has been done, problem solved, and fixed with ZERO help from Blue Science. There is no discussion needed. THEY NEED TO SIMPLY DO THE RIGHT THING!!!! TREAT CUSTOMERS AS YOU WOULD LIKE TO BE TREATED!!!
I am sending Blue Science a bill for what I paid the LICENSED pool company to do to fix the damage that Blue Science created. I am also requesting a refund on ALL of the labor charges in the $1415.00 that they took from my credit card without my authorization. Blue Science will be getting a bill on Monday the 24th from me. Stay Tuned.....Blue Science will reimburse me or we may wind up in court. At this point, it is more than about money. I hope no one else ever has to go through this!!! It has been a nightmare!!!!
"Customer, I’m sorry you had a bad experience with this. I did some research and here is what Jonathan and Audrey say happened: When our repair technician Jeff Smith began your pump installation he found your control board had pre-existing problems and was inoperable. Jeff called you and his Repair Manager Audrey immediately from the job site to let you both know he found the board to be inoperable when he connected to it. Right after this issue came up Audrey (Repair Manager) was speaking with you on the phone. When Audrey went to conference in Jeff Smith from a job site the phone call was dropped. Audrey called you back immediately and left multiple messages but was unable to speak with you. Jonathan (our General Manager) also called and emailed you several times in order to discuss the situation with you on the phone and try to help with a resolution. Jonathan wanted you to hear what Jeff saw first-hand when he opened up the control board. Neither Audrey nor Jonathan have been able to speak with you. Blue Science is in compliance with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. You are welcome to contact the TDLR as our regulating authority for electrical installations to obtain a second opinion. The pump was wired and bonded according to specifications. The inoperable board appeared to be original to the house. Unfortunately we are unable to get parts for it via our distributors due to its age. We do require a Credit Card on file on an account to schedule repairs. We charge the card the day that customer-approved work is performed. I’m very sorry this inoperable board issue caused other complications with your pool while you got the board fixed and was a bad experience for you – especially while you were moving. Based on what Jeff described I don’t see how the control board being inoperable is related to anything improper as far as what Blue Science did or didn’t do. However I’m happy to talk with you if you would like to discuss this. If I am misinformed about something I would like to know. I want Blue Science to always “do what we say we will do” at every level and to stand behind all our work. Sincerely, Gabe Ullmann"
"Hi Member, It was absolutely a pleasure for us to have you as a new customer and begin taking care of your swimming pool! Thanks for taking the time out of your day to review us and give us feedback on our service. We are here to help. Take care, -Gabe"
