The appraiser that came out to the house was prompt and very pleasant. Following the appraisal, John Maher took the time to answer my questions and give me useful info about the market in my neighborhood and what to expect when we put our house up for sale. Most appraisal fees are about the same and the concrete output (the appraisal report) is always the same form. What differentiates one appraiser from another is thoroughness, independence and familiarity with local market conditions. I was pleased with what we got on all three of these measures. A TIP FOR POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS: Most real estate appraisers get almost all of their business from mortgage companies and the like. Independent homeowners may make up a tiny percentage of their business. Keep this in mind before grilling them over the phone and then sitting back and waiting to be "sold" on why you should use them vs. a competitor.

I noticed that they followed the standard procedures correctly and followed the mortgage guidelines. They did not take long to complete everything and I thought that they were nice people to work with.
