24 Hour Fitness

They are close by and the facility has good equipment. The price is neither high nor low.

I like them. They have everything that I needed to do. It is closer to my house and it is easy to get into, it is always clean and they work 24hours. The machines that they have are all good ones. They put in new equipments recently as well. It is kind of a big place. They have swimming pools and all things. They have good professionals and they are always there if you have any questions. They are very helpful.

It was a brand new facility that was nice. There were always a lot of people there that made it hard to use the equipment.

I would highly recommend them for their group fitness classes, particularly their weight training classes. I think the group fitness room is a little on the small side.

I was on a 7 day complimentary guest pass for this facility. When I initially "toured" the gym I commented to the sales representative how filthy the swimming pool was. He told me that it was "A Saline Pool". I informed him that I had the same type of system in my pool and that it was not the Saline...it was that it needed to be shocked and cleaned/. Also there was a lot of brown dirt/sand in the bottom of the pool. I mentioned to the sales rep. that it needed to be vacuumed out. He informed me that it was salt. (Something that I knew, from experience it wasn't). I informed him that it was grime/dirt and that it needed attention. It took them six days to vacuum out the pool...and still the water was very cloudy, milky. The wet area/sauna had black mole and needed to be scrubbed out. The dry sauna's temperature was low...non-effective. I saw no monitoring of personal hygene prior to using the pool. One member was using the men's toilet and went immediately and jumped into the pool...without showering...directly from within a stall. The dry area around the pool is full of dirt,soil that is brought into the area by people wearing their shoes while walking through the area. This is picked up on the feet of the bathers and brought into the pool. I noticed that some of the exercise machines (i.e. treadmills were "out of service" and had not been repaired during the one week that I had the complimentary guest pass. Some of the hand sanitizers and paper towel holders were empty...and had not been refilled during my 7-day trial membership. The members cross all social/economic/ethnic groups, which is not a problem to me. There is no monitoring of some of their behavior...like putting back weights correctly ...rather than leaving them on the floor for someone else to pick up after them.. Additionally loud cursing from some of the members was observed...and went unnoticed by the staff. I feared that I would pick up athlete's foot or something worse in the locker/shower area. Also I requested information from the sales rep. on how to use a specific machine. His answer was: "You'll figure it out". Obviously he didn't care about his job performance...and I noted that. The club has lots of members... but it definitely will not gain my membership. I'm checking out other gyms in the area...and also other 24 Hour Fitness Facilities. This one needs an effective management staff that will train it's employees and monitor the everyday running of the gym. The membership rate that was quoted to me during my tour dropped dramatically after my one week's trial...and even more as time passed by via the internet mailing that I received. It's still not worth it.

I complained to the Manager on duty to no avail and then to the corporate office via email, with no reply. It appears they do not care for older folks at this gym.
