I spent my time researching what roof I wanted. I decided on a GAF Golden Pledge Roof. Anderson Restoration had an offer on Angie's List for this exact product, $5,999 for the first 2000 square feet and overages applied, making the amount $11,600 approximately. When I initially called them, I spoke to Cody D. and he informed me the offer was for a roof with a 25 year warranty, not a lifetime. Well, I didn't buy that one and I told him I was not interested, I wanted the lifetime Golden Pledge. He asked for time to speak with his supervisor and informed me that yes, I could obtain the Golden Pledge Roof as advertised, I didn't ask what the sudden change was about. It took some time to sign the contract as I took a while to decide the shingle color, Cody was patient here. I went over all the details with Cody about the edges, gutter, overhang to match the shingle color, going over web photos of what I like and not liked because I don't know the official terms for things that attach to the roof other than 'gutters'. I went on and on about how if something did not match, it would bother me, etc. Also in the one page contract, was brief verbiage-Upgrade to Rhino Roof Underlayment. No alarm yet. I believe it was the same day I signed the contract, I received an email that my install of the roof will be the next day. During the install process, Cody sent me photos of the process like I requested. Cody also lets me know that it's all done. But what about painting the trim, overhang, gutters? Oh, that's extra, it's not in the contract. This debate took a few days to settle but it was finally agreed upon. During this time I decided to call GAF to find out what to expect in the future, etc. I discovered that without a GAF underlayment, my roof is not applicable to have a Golden Pledge warranty for 5 aspects must be fulfilled to qualify, according to the GAF representative. I asked Cody to put a halt to any painting etc with my trim, gutters, etc, that there may be a discrepancy. The owner Darryl Anderson began communicating with me and Cody backs away. Before I made any statements to Darryl, I confirmed with GAF and they informed me that Anderson Roofing had the ability to provide a GAF warranty but not the Golden Pledge. OMG. Darryl continued to attempt to finish the task of painting and was aghast when I informed him that Angie's List will be contacting him on a discrepancy. What discrepancy was the response. After I confirmed the details repeatedly with GAF, I posed the question to him, not beating around the bush. At that point, Darryl responded Yes, you are correct. I apologize for Cody's error, he needs a little more training was the response in emails. After I submitted my situation to Angie's List, I was refunded the $5,999 because the roof I had on my house was not what was contracted. This is the exact reason why Angie's List was formed and they stayed true. Impressive. To say I have mixed feelings on the company is an understatement. Darryl Anderson attempted to complete the painting of the gutters, over hang, etc. I did not respond. He sent out several emails reaching out to me to solve this matter and wanted to paint the trimming, etc. so why don't I let him finish the job? No matter what I do, research and research, it does not matter, I get what I get, no one is concerned with truth here. Should GAF have been sent out in the future for a claim, my house would have been disqualified, then I would need to decide how to proceed when I thought I had a lifetime warranty but actually did not. Surprise surprise, supposedly by a novice error on Cody's part. Really? Yesterday I went to the post office to pick up 3 certified letters, from an attorney representing Anderson Roofing asking for payment for the overage, 18% interest on the amount from earlier this year and attorney fees of $2,500. Funny thing is, the attorney included a Golden Pledge Certificate! What's going on here? My roof didn't qualify earlier this year because it did not have GAF underlayment and who knows what else it did not have but now suddenly it qualifies for a Golden Pledge Certificate! I call GAF and explained the situation. Janelle admitted that if GAF went to my house to uncover Rhino Roof underlayment, my Golden Pledge warranty guarantee would be voided. She wanted to speak with her supervisor, she would call me back. Janelle calls me back in an hour to inform me that my Golden Pledge is valid, they reached out to the merchant, Anderson Roofing and they worked it out. They made exceptions I was told. Interesting. I let Janelle know, that I'd like that in writing. An hour later, an email arrives from GAF, Barketta Riddick that they the certificate is valid and active. That contradicts their own standards but okay..I reply that whom is going to service my roof should something occur in the future, please email me their information and contact info. I emailed GAF two times on this request. No response yet. Is the plaintiff, Anderson Roofing going to do the lifetime repairs on my roof, the defendant? GAF suddenly decided to make an exception for Anderson restoration. Okay then, where is GAF's response to my last inquiry? Why no response? I'm yet to be content with this forced upon dilemma created by Anderson Restorations actions and their holding hands with GAF. Where are my details of what to expect? I need specifics. My attorney will be requesting for this. Thank you so much for everything Anderson Restoration!
