He did email me and my only concern, which I emailed him about, was that he added tax to the bottom line I had agreed to and when I pointed this out, he brought the cost back to our bottom line. We also, through email, agreed that any additions that might occur while his people were doing the work would need to be approved by both of us. I agreed to let them do the work which was to begin and be completed by next day (3/13/2013).
His 2 workers came to work just before the designated time of 9AM, and we discussed what was to be done and completed. The workers were here most of the day and except for breaking for lunch, I saw them working all day. They really did a beautiful job. At the end of the day when the job was finished, the gentleman I was working with told me that he had to leave some trash at my curb and that he would be by in the morning to pick it up and was that okay. I told him it was, and when I looked outside early this morning, it was gone.
As an added nicety, Jimmy gave me flowers that were planted around each Oak, which just added a nice touch. Jimmy came by the next morning to oversee and approve of what had been done and I paid him. He said to 'call him anytime' if I had a problem with the lawn.
During the initial grass removal, the crew did not take out the grass between the sidewalk and the curb. when I called and quot;Jimmyand quot; the main contact for the job, he had them follow through with it. During the installation of the irrigation systems, the subcontractor installed valves and access covers so poorly that they tilted over 30 degrees instead of being level with the grass and the unit for scheduling and monitoring failed. I called and quot;Jimmyand quot; again who made excuses for the subcontractor and sent out another subcontractor to fix the monitor and rain sensors. This subcontractor told me that there were several things wrong with the first contractor's install and that the monitoring unit was of the cheapest quality available. Jimmy agreed to buy the new monitor and pay the new subcontractor to make all repairs to my satisfaction. Weeks later, there were leaks and puddles and some of the grass died. Jimmy sent out the second subcontractor again to make repairs and install new grass where the previous grass was installed.
Throughout this process, Jimmy was very polite and seemed very eager to please but missed appointments to be on the property over 6 times and offered excuses and apologies for the work and for missing appointments.
Now, the valves leak every time the system is used and there are again patches of dead grass. I have waited several months before writing this review to give Jimmy every chance to make the system right and I have finally given up on 290 grass.
