He installed foam in every gap around the windows, which is very good to optimize the performance of the windows.
He then caulked around the windows, interior and exterior, and cleaned everything.
The job was perfect. I highly recommend Eric.
We are really grateful to Eric for his remarkable work in our house. He has done a wonderful job listening to our wishes but also advising us on better choices. We are glad that we listened to him and are thrilled that he listened to us as well.
We are very happy with the Simonton windows he recommended (we went for Reflections 5050, and a couple of 5500s, because we wanted a few more opening options). Reading the reviews at some of the sites, one might be discouraged. But Eric, who has experience with the company, suggested we give it a try and we are happy with them. I was afraid that the frame would be too big, but it's really just fine; in fact, the white surface of the frame adds a nice clean look to our older (1961) home. I also learned that one might find complaints about anything in the internet, and while it's good to be prudent, it's also good not to trust every review.
It is a confusing world for someone without much expertise in windows (or home improvement). But we went with our gut feeling about Eric, because we liked that he actually personally installs what he sells. His prices are also very competitive.
While on the project, Eric and his employee work fast and well, and you would not guess that major work was carried that same day, because they leave no speck behind them. The work is impeccably done and verified. Oh, and it was a really nice touch that they listened to classical music while on the job, and not some obnoxious radio full of commercials!
It is rare to find someone who is truly dedicated to his work and his customers, to OUR project. He knows his products very well and is able to give an immediate response to inquiries or doubts concerning the type or the model of windows. And his knowledge is based on experience of installing them, not just from companies' literature on the subject.
It is obvious that Eric treats each project as a life/house improving moment. He wants to make a difference. Finally, he is great company, because he is both friendly and discrete, very respectful of your home and your space.
We highly recommend Eric for his work, his punctuality (he has an incredibly busy schedule) and his personality. By the way my wife (who is really hard to please on home improvement projects) thinks he is an artist.
I'd definitely hire Eric again if we had the need. He really went out of his way to make us happy.
From the first call Eric had been very friendly and responsive. He showed up on time for our meeting, and gave me detailed estimate for the work.
The work was done on time, as promised with excellent quality.
I would definitely work with him again.
I waited until now to write this review because I wanted to collect actual temperature data. The installation of the new windows altered the room temperature by 12 degrees. I turned off the ac before the installation and after so I could find out whether this was really making a difference and I was surprised by how big a difference it made. I also wanted to see how the windows held up in a severe storm so I had to wait a while for rain. I'm happy to report that there were no leaks, no problems.
Now that we are having cooler weather, I've been opening and closing the windows daily and they slide smoothly. You don't need any heavy force to open and close them.
The Greenstar windows are an awesome quality and Eric is great to work with.
Update, 5 months later. Windows sticking.
Eric came out the next day after phone conversation and adjusted my windows. He was very polite and treated me with great respect. He listened to my issue with the operation of the windows and completed the job promptly and professionally.
He cares a great deal for his customers satisfaction and quality of work. His prices are reasonable. His work is impeccable and Eric has the utmost integrity.
I highly recommend Green Star Windows. His work and his product are of high value.
"Hi (Removed member name), I'm very sorry that you are having the same problem again. I would be happy to come out and fix any problems you have. my deepest apologies for an employee of Green Star being rude to you. He is no longer employed by U.S. For being rude to me as well. Eric"
From beginning to end, our experience with Green Star Windows exceeded all expectations. The owner of the company, Eric MacGormon took personal interest in our project and supervised all aspects of the work throughout
The proposal was a professional booklet presented to us at the end of our first meeting to discuss the scope of the work. The booklet included brochures from the window manufacturer, Simonton, along with a computer-generated sketch showing a sketch of each window and the specifications for each window. Very personalized and very impressive. After careful consideration of all competing proposals, we invited Eric back to make a final agreement on the scope of work and the cost
Key to our project, was the renovation of a very prominent window opening at the front of our house. The original opening was a wood siding box with two arched windows. We decided to do away with the two windows below the arches and replace the two arches with long one horizontal window. In place of the two windows, we asked Eric to include a stone veneer siding to provide an accent to the brick on our house. Eric offered that he could do the renovation with the veneer framing the new horizontal window, replacing the space of the two removed windows and extending all the way to the ground.
Eric called us a few days after we signed the contract to discuss the stone veneer installation. He told us he had been putting a lot of thought and research into the project and would like to change the design from a stone veneer to cut natural stone at no extra cost. Naturally, we agreed to the upgrade and made an appointment with Eric to meet at a local stone yard to select the stone. Eric provided a lot of great advice as to the stone colors and textures that would complement the adobe brick and we settled on a mixture of stone colors to be intermingled.
The work started on the scheduled day. Eric and a crew of two arrived promptly and with all materials on hand. His crew began the task of removing and replacing the existing windows and Eric began cutting the stone and creating the stone design. Cutting the stone was a two day project in itself. The window installation went very smoothly, his crew was very considerate of our property and kept everything neat and clean inside and out. We did have one glitch, wherein one window was factory-built slightly larger than the opening. No problem, the Green Glass crew was able to modify the window on-site.
On day two it was time to take on the new window opening in the front of the house. In the course of discussion with Eric, we decided to remove the box frame entirely, placing the new window flush with the existing brick. After seeing the new opening framed-in, we decided to limit the stone-work to the window frame only, and not extend it the the ground. Again, no issues with changes to the design in the middle of the project. All windows were installed at the end of day two, leaving only the stone-work to be completed.
Eric came to us in the morning and with another offering for the design of the stonework. He offered that we should consider a design in the center of the stone and also place a timber across the top of the window. After a lot of discussion, we agreed to go ahead with Eric's new ideas for the opening and we are so glad we did! We love the look of the design (and our neighbors do too). It is truly a masterpiece.
We highly recommend Green Glass for window and siding, especially if you have a need beyond a straight window replacement project. Eric and his crew are excellent carpenters and can probably customize any opening to give a house a new, distinctive and artistic look.
Green Glass offer personal service at its best!
"Thank you so much for the wonderful review and also for being such classy customers. It was an absolute joy working together with both of you to design your house into a southwest theme."
