Chapman Contracting

Description of Work: Chapman was hired to paint sheet rock walls & ceilings and skim coat to paint over wallpaper. He left excessive compound build up around baseboards, trim and in corners and did not sand level. When sanding the skim coat compound to smooth the walls, the dust and material that fell onto the top lip of the baseboard trim was not removed prior to painting the baseboard trim. He did not sufficiently tape or cover trim, electrical fixtures, cabinets, stained wooden ceiling beam and stone fireplace to avoid getting paint on them. He fully understood that he was not to use his paint sprayer in the house. When left alone, it became obvious that he used the paint sprayer in the house. This resulted in overspray on ceiling light fixtures, stained wood ceiling beam, stone fireplace and custom cabinets throughout the house. His crew left painting materials on our oak kitchen table that leaked and damaged the surface. We spent $400. repairing this damage. Chapman refused to pay for it. His crew cleaned their paint equipment on our lawn and they got paint on several stone walls and on our stained fence. He left the job unfinished because of his refusal to complete the job properly. We hired another painter to correct all issues and complete the job properly at a cost of $4,000. The new contractor was shocked. All this resulted in a lawsuit of which Chapman lost in court. We were awarded $$6,500. in damages. Chapman promptly filed for bankruptcy to avoid paying the judgement.

Description of Work: Bobby came from Atlanta to Little Rock to repair a wall that was damaged by water. He also replaced tile in a bathroom, finished closets and put a light in them, put up gutters on two sides of the house, repaired a mail slot in a door and replaced lighting fixtures. He also did some painting, installed a storage room door in the attic and replaced a sink and faucet in the kitchen. He also replaced vent covers that come out from the heating system.
