The first phase was the bathroom. Boudreaux's came out and was very professional. We went over the details and the work was started. I paid up front $5K. Everything in it was replaced. I asked the worker if the toilet needed a vent and he said no.
I had the den painted and told the worker that the trim was painted with enamel and would need to primer. He said no just like he did on the vent. So it peeled but Boudreauxs sent out another worker and it was done right. The paint peeled on the outside of the french doors and never reworked.
The windows were installed good. The fence is okay. The walk through gate is not up to standard and sags all the time. The water lines were done by the same bad worker The lines were not supported under the house so they sag and the price was 3 times what another would have charged.
The back bedroom had paneling removed and sheet-rocked, trim and painted. A new ceiling fan was put up and has since fell out of the ceiling. Contractor was made aware of this and nothing was ever done and I had to fix the problem myself..
I had to call out a plumber this year as the toilet quit flushing in the remodeled bathroom. The problem was no vent and he installed one and now it works fine. He said it should have been done from the beginning.
I specifically asked that the shop building be a priority before the winter rains. It is started and then work stopped. Somebody did not order the trusses so that took 2 weeks and no work. The wire to the light switch shorted out and burnt. I had to get an electrician to fix it. The green house was last and it was flimsy and rain could get in on the side to the building. I mentioned this oversight and the fix was insulating foam to seal it to the building and it looks horrible. If the building had not been delayed there would not have been a hurry for the last job. I let him know I was not paying for that job and they did take some off of the amount. The clean up started getting sloppy over time. Pickets from the fence were left scattered in the yard and trash left in wheel barrow that was also left behind.
I believe that they can do a good job and have but take on too much work at one time and cannot supervise it all. They need to have someone to inspect the work because workers do not always do what is right. and the homeowner have to trust them it was done right. They also need workers that do different crafts instead of having those who try to do it all. This causes problems.
On 3/31/2013 (approximately 2.5 months after the project began), we sent an e-mail to you citing issues that brought about our decision to find another contractor to correct your work deficiencies and complete the project of updating two baths. Below a compilation of the issues is listed for your review.
At this point, we would appreciate your cooperation in monetary settlement so that this business is promptly ended.
To date, we have paid Boudreaux's $8,721.
We owe you $1,368.83:

· $47.50 - for recessing the mirror cabinet into the wall in the hall bath. (This cost was not included on the quote and is based upon the quote of $95 for recessing the mirror cabinets into the wall in the master bath, which was included on the quote.)

If we do not come to a monetary agreement before April 30, 2013, we will use appropriate means available to us to collect funds owed us.
Hall Bath Issues:
1) One of the mirrors on the medicine cabinet was chipped by your crew and it now has to be replaced.
2) Grout is still needed in one of the corners of the shower.
3) The tile in the hall next to the new granite tile was chipped and needs to be blended so it will not show so badly.
Master Bath Issues:
1) Countertop:
Before the master bath granite countertop was installed, I notified both of you that the cutouts for the lavatories should be a little smaller than the lavatory size and that the edge of the granite should be bull nosed ? just like the edge of the granite in the hall bath. When the countertop was prematurely installed, I pointed out that neither were the lavatory openings cut as I had specified (they were too large) nor was the edge bull nosed. Both of you agreed that I had told you what we wanted prior to these mistakes being made. You tried to salvage the granite we had selected, but during the process, the granite was cracked and was therefore unacceptable to us. You asked us to come by your business site to see if there was another piece of granite we liked. When we didn?t find any granite that we liked, Robynn told us that we should get what we wanted and she said that she?d try to find another remnant matching what we?d originally selected. When I later texted Robynn to ask her if she?d found the countertop, she replied, ?Yes.? However, what we found when we arrived home on Thursday, 3/28/13, was a countertop that was not what we had ordered and a backsplash that did not match. Moreover, upon closer inspection, we have discovered that the backsplash is cracked! Had we known that you were going to install granite of your choosing rather than what we had selected (and what you said you?d found), we would have stopped all the work at that point and gotten another contractor to finish the work.
2) Tile:
The floor tile is not evenly spaced, it is not level in multiple areas, and several tiles are chipped. We had already pointed out deficiencies with the tile job in the shower and you did replace the chipped tiles we had identified, but others are not level and some remain with rough edges. The grout in the shower is not evenly applied and it is very heavy in some areas on the accent pieces. When I asked Henry if your workmen had sealed the grout, he told me that he did not know; it is not acceptable to install new tile without sealing the grout. There is also too much space between the floor tile and the carpet in the bedroom. The only way to correct the floor tile is to rip it all up and start all over again as Robynn stated on Friday, 3/29/2013, would have to be done. The same is true for the accent shower tile. What frustrates us even more is that you told us that we?d have to wait in order to have the same tile installer who installed the tile in the hall bath, so we agreed to wait ? but he was not the one who installed the master bath tile after all.
3) Shower Door:
Although we asked (via e-mail) when we could meet to select a frameless shower door for the master bath as early as 1/15/2013 and 1/21/2013, it was not until 3/25/2013 that we received hand-drawn diagrams via e-mail showing two styles of shower doors to choose from.
4) Medicine Cabinet Mirror:
Your crew cracked one of the mirrors to one of the medicine cabinets in the master bath, so it will have to be replaced.
Also, your crew has scarred our recently painted front door and walls in the foyer and hall. I have repaired and repainted the foyer and hall myself. They have also nicked the wood trim in the master bath in various spots, which will have to be fixed and repainted.
Previous Issues:
1) The weekend after work on the hall bath began, the plumbing under the sink was not secured; water flooded under the vanity and leaked into the hall as well as into the adjacent bedroom carpet.
2) Per our request, you agreed not to begin work on the master bath until work on the hall bath had been completed. Nevertheless, we came home from work one afternoon - while work was still ongoing in the hall bath - to discover that th
Discussed and considered overlay at this point, not what we wanted, we wanted the beautiful stamped concrete Boudreaux's showed us in the catalog of colors and stamping options. We decided to live with the deck as it was for the winter months as we did not want equipment in our back yard during rainy season. We agreed on 5/1/2013, to tear out the PINK deck, and perform the job as contracted.
They were a week late getting started, but showed up with bob cats to tear out the concrete. The bob cat damaged trees, broke water lines, broke pool PVC piping, destroyed new skimmer, broke leg and ladder off existing slide, knocked out post on porch, broke existing coping.
Forming began 5/17/2013. Concerns during forming prior to pour, we had to be outside the entire time workers were on property. The decision to replace the old coping, due to damages during demolition was a time set back. The old coping was removed, but during this process the workers broke a lot of the tile inside the pool, which could not be matched, but sections were replaced with tile, similar in shape and color. Coping was not laid level with the new concrete deck.
We were ready to pour the new concrete after reviewing the color and sample supplied by Boudreaux's. The pour and stamping was accomplished on 5/23/2013. Not at all the color of the sample, which also mysteriously disappeared from our garage the day of the pour. Very disappointed but no one owned up to taking it.
Other problems, sealant placed between coping and deck, gray, not acceptable looked awful, insisted they remove it. Requested a red or cream, self leveling sealant. Took Boudreaux's 3 times and still looks awful due to unevenness of coping and concrete.
Replacing the slide and hand rails was an ordeal. Not placed in concrete as old slide and hand rails were, but bolted down to decking without using stainless steel bolts, spalled concrete as the bolts were being installed.
On 7/11/2013, after weeks and months of having workers periodically show up unscheduled to work on this project, we presented Henry and Robin with a 4 page typed list of all the issues we had during this work. We told them we were not satisfied with the project outcome. We agreed to let them replace the bolts on the slide, as they were not stainless, this is when the concrete was broken.
They did not disagree with any of our issues and could not excuse the work. After we requested a discount for the unsatisfactory work, they reluctantly agreed.
We have many other issues with this job, but as you can see we are tired of talking and dealing with it. We would not recommend Boudreaux's for any pool or decking work.
We are still living out of boxes. I wouldn't recommend them to anybody. They are just trying to get some work, get your money and they are done. It was horrible.
Tile on shower floor is unattractive. Shower doors have to be squeegied every time we shower, even though we requested the built-in rainguard. Overall, we ended up settling with what was provided, due to the fact it got too frustrating and we were tired of having people in our house every day. We had to repaint the wall ourselves after 3 attempts by the contractor, even though we suggested how they do it.
The crew themselves were courteous and professional; however, the guidance from the owner was obviously missing. It seems he had a larger job to do and our job was relegated to his partner -- and since they didn't communicate very well, we had to step in and make several corrections. In addition, we specifically requested that no mess be made in our lawn, and sure enough, the crew left marble pieces and concrete in our lawn, which we had to clean up. They poured paint/paint thinner in the lawn as well, which caused one of our underground pipes to disintegrate. This caused a water leak which we also had to fix.
Owner and his partner were very pleasant and likeable - they even went out their way for us a couple of times. They just need to get organized, gain more experience and pay attention to detail.
