Authorized Appliance Repair & Service

I hired this contractor who was recommend by Home Advisor on May 15, 2017.. The worker's name was Timothy Scoggins. The company’s name is Authorized Appliance Repair & Service. Tim repaired the wiring under two electric burners on our range on May 15, 2017. He charged $382 although Home Advisor states on their website that this type repair averages $287. We paid him $400. Before he left, he turned the burners off but the red warning light would not go off. He said it would after the burners cooled off. They did not and stayed on constantly. I called him and he promised to come by to fix it. He did not show up. I called him again and he said he would come the next day between 12:00PM and 2:00PM. He did not show up so I called him at 3:30 PM. He said he was doing a job and he would come to our house when he finished. He did not show up. The next day I called him and he hung up the phone. I complained to Home Depot and they spoke to him. He reluctantly came to our house again after Home Depot spoke to him to repair the damage he had caused. After 20 minutes he left and the warning light would not come on at all. Now we do not know if a burner is on or off. This is dangerous. Now he does not answer my calls. He is incompetent, unethical and dishonest. His word is worthless. I caution anyone using his services. Since Home Advisor recommended this contractor, I ask that them to help me to resolve this issue. I offered to settle for $200 so I could pay another contractor to fix the repair their contractor caused. They spoke to him again and he refused. They told me that they do are not responsible for contractors they recommend and that complaints against this contractor continues, they will take action. This is an unacceptable response and I will never use their service again in spite of my long-term history of hiring contractors recommended by them. We are retired in our 70’s and $400 is a lot to spend and then not get what we paid for. I often rely on Home Advisor and have never had this issue with your contractors in the past. I ended up having to buy a new washer after consulting with a different company appliance repair company.
