TORRES REMODELING INC

I spoke with company/owner a few months prior to him starting upon our approval. He kept same estimate he originally proposed. I found him to be accommodating and was willing/eager to get started. I asked if he was to get another job (bigger return) during my project, would he complete mine as scheduled. He said yes and did. When we did our (pre-job) walk-around to determine the exterior siding to replace, he acknowledged the pieces we saw together and said it was no problem to replace them. And since it was stated that if additional ones were found he would replace those too. Unfortunately on this part of the job, if I didn't identify them the pieces he wasn't about to point them out to me because we found additional siding that needed to be replaced (post-job). But only because I spotted them did he acknowldge the replacement of additional siding to be replaced. I had told him at the start of the job that if something was missed or not earlier identified would he take care of it and he had said he would. Well again, if I hadn't pointed it out it would probably not have been done. He did re-align my backdoor due to its inability to close without interference from door frame. He easily did this by inserting a longer wood screw into door frame. Overall, the job was fair at best. I made the cardinal mistake of paying him the final payment with the knowledge he needed to still perform a couple of small items to complete the whole project. We were going away on vacation at near completion, but he assured me with a handshake he would do so. To date, (12/27/2012), he hasn't completed the small items. I have left at least a couple of messages on his phone, with no return calls. In all fairness this is the holidays and he may be away on vacation. The company was pretty punctual, very friendly/respectful, but they (owner) always seemed to be in a hurry and tried to impress me/wife with his ability to get things done. They showed up to work every day and did not split projects with other jobs to my knowledge. They were pretty set on finishing the job Based on my dealings with the company I don't have a clear conscience in recommending him at this point. He is far better than others I've used in the past but unfortunately I have a pretty high bar when dealing with contractors.
