The Master Trainer

We went there for training. I first talked to the gentleman, the master trainer and said he doesn't really need it. We just need to be more firm in our commands. He said if we have problems, we'll bring him back. I said okay and then I saw that they also do boarding so a week or two later, I took the big one up over there for boarding. I like them so much that I gave him my name and phone number and said that if ever they need a volunteer helper, I would be very happy to help over there. The boarding was $20 overnight. They are good about boarding and taking care of him, but the site is more primitive than usual that is why it's cheap. They have individual chain-linked areas for the big dogs in the big area. They walk them twice a day. The rooms that they're in are fairly good sized. They are probably 6 feet by 10 feet and they've got a big bucket of water in there. Although it was not fancy, they take good care of the dogs. The dogs are happy. They treat them well. I would be very happy to use them again and I would definitely use them again overnight. They were really good.

I do not agree with using a choke chain for training on an 8 pound dog. Maltese are well know for problems with their airways and

I think this is the wrong approach. The cages are all outside with a just a roof over them. The constant wind blowing through the area was responsible for the illness my dog got. I called Tony after the Sunday visit to the vet to ask why he didn't call me to tell me my dog was sick so I could have got him treatment sooner. He had no answer. We were stuck with an additional $150 bill. I would never take another animal there.

the one that ran off (we were able to get her and it's not near a busy road, so she wasn't in any real danger) was traumatized by the 3 day stay. It has a lot to do with her personality and the unfamiliarity of the situation, but I can't give a glowing review based on our experience.

My new puppy went through an 11-day Puppy Bootcamp. She learned to sit, lay, stand, stay, walk on command.

I've used them twice. They love the animals and they take really good care of them. They are gentle with them. They do a really good job of training. They are hard to get to because the road is really bumpy and they are far away.

The training my dog received was very helpful, as she had not ever had any training and was set in her ways. She has a long way to go to be perfect, but the company has follow-up training visits planned and gave me homework to continue the training at home. Overall I think my dog has come out of the experience with some basic knowledge that I can continue to refine as time goes on. She also lost a bunch of dog-belly :)

Master Trainer has several different training programs, and we chose to put our dog into a 10-day "boot camp" while we were on vacation. We would have had to board her, anyway, so we figured this was a good time to get her trained. We were amazed at the results. Before training, our dog was loving and sweet, but would not obey at all. She ran off every time she got out the door, wouldn't come when called, chewed and barked and jumped. All the bad behaviors you don't want in a dog. After "boot camp", she was a totally different dog. And, the training included several follow-up sessions after the boot camp was over. We brought her back and the trainer worked with my kids, my dog, and I on making sure we were staying on track with the training and helping us with any issues we were having. The trainer was very, very knowledgeable and effective. He was patient with us, spent lots of time talking to us and making sure we understood how the training works and why it works and how to reinforce it after we brought her home. I highly recommend Master Trainer. They also offer classes for dogs and owners to attend together, as well as boarding. In fact, they offer training reinforcement during boarding, so next time we go on a trip, we'll board our dog with them and let them work with her some more.
