I had Rick's Tile out twice in the last 2 years. The first time was September 6, 2013 soon after I bought this home. He replaced broken and loose tile in my living room. I was satisfied with the cost ($450.00) and the work until in March 2014 when I noticed the grout between the tiles that he replaced was coming up and the tiles were loose again. I called him and he came out to look at it. He told me that this was common when the ground freezes even if the tile is in the house. This did not sound right to me but he told me to call him when there was no chance of another freeze and he would come fix it. A few months went by and I noticed the tile outside in front of the front door was loose. I had him come out and fix this on August 12,2014 ($250.00). I only had him work on the outside tile at the time because the inside job was going to take more time of which I did not have the time. I was happy with the work until 2 months later that tile was loose again. I called him out again to fix the loose tile in the house expecting him to guarantee his work. After all he told me to call him when there was no chance of another freeze. When he came out, I also told him at that time that the tile in front of the front door was loose again. When he found out that I was expecting him to honor his work and fix for free he became very defensive. He said my house was cut in half and this is why the tile became loose again. I had a structural engineer out to assess the so called problem that Rick had mentioned (house cut in half and that why the same tile is coming loose) and he said I had no foundation problems. The loose tile had nothing to do with the foundation because there was no foundation problems. Unfortunately, having a structural engineer out to assess my home cost me $500. but at least I know it is not my foundation! I will never use this company again. He does not back his work.
1. I was unable to contact him and get him back out mid project. When he eventually called me back to schedule a time to come out, he claimed that he had written my phone number down incorrectly; not believable, when you have the call on a call log on your cell phone.
2. He knew we were up against a scheduling deadline, and despite assurance it would be done on time, they were still working on the shower the very last day of the deadline. The crunch on time shows in the poorly finished shower. The cuts in the tile are sloppy, there is not symmetry between the tiles, and there is grout on my wall and ceiling. Not to mention, the grout in the drain pipe, that cost me and additional $1,600 for a plumber.
3. I requested silicon grout. They used sand grout, and the grout cracked within the first three months.
4. I requested that they come out and address the issues, and his assistant Victor agreed. Unfortunately, they never showed up. I was told two different time that the would be out and they never arrived.

The new shower looks like it has always been there.
Very impressed
I would definitely use him again.
When Rick came out to see the project to give me an estimate, I asked him if he had ever seen a shower like this (60's vintage house, original shower in corner of bathroom.0 He said every day. Been doing this for more than 20 years. He even matched the original tile! It looks great. We are very satisfied and have recommended him to friends.
