"This inspector admits that he is human and can make a mistake, and I am willing to take responsibility for a mistake and correct it if possible. [member name removed] contacted us via email on Friday, 9-27-2013 at 6:59 AM with his complaint about the inspection. On Saturday, 9-28-2013 at 7:58 AM I responded to him offering to meet with him to discuss the issues and try to resolve them. I was prepared to make everything right if he wanted. On Sunday, 9-28-2013 I received notification from "Angie's List" of his posting. [member name removed] never contacted me to resolve his issue; it appears he was motivated to post this rant by some self-serving issue, rather than a desire to resolve or fix his perceived issues with his home. If the issues are as severe as he indicates in this post one would think that he would want to meet with me and work to get them fixed. Obviously resolving his issues are not his priority! The cracks in the exterior walls [member name removed] refer to in the post are as he described in his email to me, as one foot to three foot long cracks on the bay side of the home. I observed these cracks during the inspection; they are small and cosmetic in nature, they certainly are not an indication of serious foundation failure. While not required to list cosmetic issues in the report, my mistake was not knowing my customer and meeting his needs, and listing every minor inconsequential defect. In addition the house is built in an area of town that has sandy soil and seldom sees foundation problems. Again, I offered to meet with [member name removed] to discuss resolution of his issues but he has ignored that communication. The "several other things missed" were detailed in [member name removed] email to me as a single Sheetrock crack behind the water heater. It is quite possible I could not see this crack during the inspection and as noted previously I have offered to meet with [member name removed] to resolve this issue and he has chosen to ignore that communication. In the inspection report it was clearly stated that the interior walls could not be fully inspected due to the large number of the owner's personal possessions in the house. A picture of the water heater included in the report shows so many items stacked around the water heater that a complete inspection was impossible. However, as previously stated, I have tried to make this right for [member name removed] but he has not responded. Codes are written and adopted by cities because they are important, not useless. For example one code often ignored in Corpus Christi, TX is the venting of the bathroom exhaust fans to the attic. I have found fans vented to the attic that have caused black mold to grow and cover the majority of the bathroom ceiling. So advising clients of code violations that have become common building practices but potentially damaging and dangerous, health and safety wise, is not "Useless". It is the law and required of the inspector. The bottom line is [member name removed] has some minor issues that I am prepared to resolve for him. He, however, does not appear to be interested in resolving the issues and has posted a very unfair and misleading review of my company and my work. We urge you to read all our "Angie's List" postings and make your decision to choose or not to choose our services based on our full body of work. Thank You."
