I was a new customer and my stylist was Alexa. Because it was my first time there I just went with a basic shampoo and style cut.   I first noticed that the salon was kept very neat and clean as it should be.  My hair is medium length and Alexa took some time me and we eventually decided to go with my same basic style but to thin and shorten overall.  Not a pixie style but a smart and easy to manage look.  She took her time with her cut and I appreciated that she was careful and not rushed.  She trimmed my eyebrows and a few stray ear hairs. We discussed color and I plan to do that on my next appointment.  I had been a customer at JC Penney Salon but it's been so crowded with kids when I've been shopping there that I decided to try this salon because the location is not far from my house.   I was more than happy with my cut and really everything about Planet Sol.  The price was a bit lower than at the JCP salon, by the way, at least with Alexa. The price was actually $23 but I rounded up to $30 with tip. I don't know what the other stylists there charge.  I will definitely return and so long as Alexa is there I plan to be a customer. 

My experience at Planet Sol was excellent. I appreciated Melissa's punctuality. She listened to what I wanted and used her knowledge to get me there. She was clear on what to expect with both my colour and my blowout. Melissa was not distracted with her environment and I felt she was focused on my hair. And she gave me the knowledge to maintain my hair and keep it looking it's best.
This would be a 5 star except the price was double what I am accustomed to paying for cut, colour, and highlight in previous places I've lived. This difference could partially be attributed to small town versus large city. Since my hair ended up looking better than ever, I will be going back.

Melissa started with a consultation where we reviewed pictures of my original hair colour, my past hits and misses, and determined what I wanted my hair to look like. She provided a cost break down for the services required to achieve this look (cut, colour, highlights, and lowlights were $236).
While working on my hair we discussed Brazilian Blowouts, Melissa explained what it was, and I decided to splurge and try it. The blowout solution's smell was no worse than colourant chemicals and I was able to wash my hair at any time, no waiting period. Melissa also explained what types of shampoos I needed to best maintain my colour and blowout. One week later, I am enjoying the fact that my hair doesn't frizz when there's humidity or when I work out.
