mike's Custom Uoholstery & Interiors

I provided photos of all items to Rosa and offered to schedule to meet her at the location so that she could personally inspect items for the quote.  I have never received a response.  This work is for a rental unit so time is of the "essence" in order to get all work completed, photos taken, and get the unit back on the market as quickly as possible. Please keep in mind that I reviewed them earlier this year for a job that was completed and exceeded expectations.  Not sure what is going on with Mike & Rosa, but I will not be using them again.  I need a reliable company for rental unit work.

I paid MIKES' UPHOLSTERY - here in Corpus Christi, TX - $860 to repair and re-upholster 4 dining room chairs. That included new casters but not the fabric for which I paid another $260 at a fabric store.
I dropped the chairs off on 12/08/2011.
They were finally finished and I picked them up on 01/12/2012
The upholstery job on one of the chairs was so crooked and bad that I took it back on 2/24/2012 to have it redone.  It took another 2-3 week to get that chair back.
Then a month or so later the metal frame inside one of the chairs broke.  The frame should have been inspected and repaired ( Mike personally told me he would do that) when they had the chairs all stripped down in their shop.  Also Mike assured me they would tighten and re-glue and clean and polish the oak chair frames and replace the missing oak buttons that covered the screw holes. 
When I brought the chairs home I immediately noticed that the frames were not tightened or glued and were not cleaned and the screw hole buttons were not replaced.  Also, they stuffed pieces of cardboard in the caster stem holes so the caster wheels wouldn't fall out.
Well, it didn't take long before the cardboard disintegrated and the wheels on all 4 chairs started falling out.
In addition,  I discovered when I disassembled the chair with the broken metal frame that MIKE'S UPHOLSTERY re- used the old foam cushioning that was in the chairs even though I PAID EXTRA for all new foam padding.
So I am now repairing the chairs myself.  I had the steel frame welded and braced so it won't break again.  I am epoxying oak doweling in the caster stem holes and will drill new stem holes and install new and better casters I found on the internet.  And, I will completely clean and verathane the oak frames and replace the missing oak buttons.  I really like these chairs so the effort will be worth it.
I don't mind paying a fair price for good work.  I just detest being lied to and cheated.
Don't tell me you are going to do something and then not do it - especially if I paid a fair price for the work!!!
Based on my experience - I WILL NOT RECOMMEND MIKE'S CUSTOM UPHOLSTERY & DRAPERIES TO ANYONE!!!

I had contacted several other upholstery shops, even some on Angies's List, and I never received return contact.  When I called Mike's the phone was answered on the second ring!  I coordinated with Rosa to re-upholster a sleeper sofa which also needed to have the seat cushions replaced due to wear.  I wanted to provide my own fabric since I had already picked it out and that was no problem.  She provided a quote based on photos of the sofa and also told me how much fabric I needed to order.  Once the fabric arrived, I contacted Rosa and scheduled pick-up with Mike for the following day (6/7/13) .  When he picked up the sofa he provided me with an estimated date for project completion and stated that they would call me when complete to schedule delivery.
Rosa contacted me on 6/17/13 to let me know that the sofa was ready. I requested to come to their shop to look at the sofa and asked if I could bring some fabric protector to apply to the sofa.  When I inquired about delivery scheduling, Rosa said they could deliver the sofa to my rental unit the same evening.  It is very convenient that they provide pick-up and delivery hours outside of the usual "only between 8 & 5" so that customers do not have to take off work.
When I arrived at the shop an hour later, the sofa was ready and looked fantastic!  Rosa even saved me the trouble of Scotch Guarding the sofa and applied the protector for me.  The price was as quoted and the unused fabric was returned when the sofa was delivered.  Delivery was on time.
I will definitely use them again and refer them to others!!!  Great Customer Service!!!
