I had him do some work for us in the past, and he did a fine job. I needed some work done on my daughter’s house so he gave me a bid. He went up and worked on part of it and finished <25% of the work done after giving him $5300 up front for supplies. He spent nothing of that, more or less, because I supplied most of the supplies used for what he did start working on. He left, kept the money, and has not returned to complete the job.

I paid Kurt Tiede $2400 of the total $4800 that we agreed on for the deck. The first half was for the foundation of the deck that would initially serve as a patio cover. After that was built I had serious concerns. The deck florring was built well below where the french door was to go. load bearing posts were not secured, and the entire structure did not seem sturdy. Kurt assured me that everything would be reinforced and the only reason it looked the way it did was because it was not complete but that it would be completed to my satisfaction. He even agreed to have an inspector approve the deck at the end of the job. I foolishly paid him another $1200 to continue. He did about 2 hours more of work, then claimed to have injured his shoulder and to have to make a trip to visit his dying father in Michigan. He never responded again. I called him several times, left messages, texted him, and emailed. Never a response. I am out $3600. What I ended up with is a half built structure that cannot be used by anyone to continue to build from I found others on Craigslist that have also been ripped of by him and they have contacted me about their issues. He is a scam artist who gains your confidence on small jobs and then runs away with your money on bigger jobs when he decides it's not worth completing them
