Humpal Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine Centers

Not well. I went to the Humpal facility in Rockport where they had a pool. I was evaluated by the ONE and ONLY REGISTERED Physical Therapist and from then on I was left to the "care" of young technicians who told me that they all had ONE month's training before beginning work. I was sent to the pool where a young tech sat fully clothed on a stool watching 6-10 individuals in the pool. There was no instruction as to how to do the exercises only verbal commands. I thought the pool felt funny and after two weeks in the pool, I learned that the filter had been broken and that they were waiting on a part. When I put my towel in my washer the stench of the water was overwhelming. I soon developed an infection that required three rounds of antibiotics. One disabled man who was in the pool with me was lowered in on a winch and he just sat in the water -- no exercising, etc. He could have just sat in a bathtub. I also developed a plantar's wart on my foot. The facility was not clean. The pool was cleaned by a tech who got in the pool and wiped the sides with a rag. Visible oil spots and hair floated on the surface of the pool. The two unisex change rooms were full of water, slippery and difficult to change from wet clothes to dry. I called the Physical Therapy Licensing in Austin and was told that all therapy should be supervised by either a Licensed PT or Licensed PT Aid. This was not happening and my recovery period suffered because of the treatment I had there.

It's going well.

I worked out in the pool three days a week for 4 weeks. It did wonders. I then got sick and had a relapse putting my therapy in jeopardy, Yvonne got in touch with my surgeon and got me another 4 weeks prescription for the hydrotherapy. The tech's are all well informed on how to attend a patient. They are all extremely well trained and were right there with you when you needed them in your session. Keri, Angela and Kathy were all super helpful. They all care. I am a senior and must say they have utmost respect for my age and condition.
I would recommend Humpal Physical Therapy to anyone who needs hydrotherapy to regain their strength in their lower body.
