Who knew that when we decided to update our kitchen to this century and replace cabinets, counter tops, and flooring that it would take from April until September. So that I don't mislead anyone, let me be precise, the first scheduled meeting with a kitchen designer was on April 25, 2013 (for which I took off work) and the counter top was installed on August 13!!!! After the design meeting on the 25th, my husband and I went back to HD on April 29, 2013 to switch a cabinet from one end of the kitchen to the other and to see if there were additional options to a 36" cabinet. At the time of that meeting we finalized the design, agreed to the $99 cost to have the cabinet installer measure, and we agreed to the total cost and provided our credit card for payment of ALL ITEMS!! Let me provide the names of the vendors, so that you can avoid this same situation. Cabinet installer = AJD Contracting a subcontractor of RF Installations and Counter Top = Artistic Counters. I would definitely recommend Albert Garcia an independent sub contractor of AJD (his family makes custom cabinetry) and Artistic Counters. Albert and Artistic were always polite, professional, and did what they said when they said. They were the only ones other than Robert, the Asst Mgr at Home Depot (now at the Callalen store). AJD previously installed a huge sliding glass door at our home and did a wonderful job so we were not worried. Until the same person (Anthony) showed up at our home the 1st week of May to measure and verify that our design would work and fit with no information and no plans. He was more concerned about the names of our electrician and plumber and if they were licensed (yes, they were) than about doing his job. We found out later, that was because he is apparently much better at measuring and installing exterior doors than cabinets. To put it lightly, our 10 x 10 kitchen was too complicated for the HD store designers and Anthony with AJD. Bad News! Anthony had to come back (a third day off work so far) on May 13 with the plans and do what he should have done two weeks prior. He indicated everything was good and would fit and said he would submit his paperwork to HD for the cabinet order. More Bad News. When we called to check on a possible delivery date, since no one had contacted us, we were informed that NOTHING HAD BEEN ORDERED. We went back to HD and provided the same credit card AGAIN to pay for everything AGAIN. That was after we got the girl at the desk to provide the correct price as per our original estimate. Cabinets arrived on June 27 and installation was confirmed with AJD's scheduler for July 4th. Don't say it! At the same time, Anthony is at my home telling my husband that he can't possibly get guys to work on July 4th. My husband calls me, I go into a tail spin, call Sandra @ AJD back...I can't print the rest. Lucky for us Albert Garcia was available on July 2 & 3 to install the cabinets. ALBERT IS A GEM!!! Buy your cabinets from his family directly, they are custom and beautiful...we wish we had! BAD NEWS. The designer put a 33" cabinet surround around our 36" refrigerator. The same refrigerator that Anthony measured twice. Also, all of the filler pieces were a totally different color and no trim was ordered. Wrong cabinet goes back to HD and correct one is ordered along with the replacement filler pieces and the trim. Artistic Counters measures for counter tops on July 9. Jesse is extremely professional and polite and informs my husband that cabinets are too close to gas stove and refrigerator and should be adjusted. He wasn't kidding. You could not fit a single sheet of paper and we were barely able to fit the fridge without damaging cabinets. Anthony's measuring strikes again! The same evening Robert, Asst Mgr, from HD comes to our home. He is appalled by what has been caused by improper measuring and ensures us that he will get it right. Needless to say the nightmare continued until the last of the work was FINALLY completed in September. Flooring contact quite HD in the middle of a work day and it took several weeks to even get anyone to tell us what was going on (no thanks to the store or their corporate complaints department). The flooring subcontractor Rick Ledesma did a fantastic job, was always professional, even when HD didn't order any transition pieces and he had to come back after they were ordered. We NEVER received matching filler pieces for the cabinets ends or the correct over-the -fridge cabinet ... lucky for us Albert Garcia made it work. In case you lost track this all started in April. MESSAGE - DO NOT EVER ALLOW THIS STORE TO DESIGN OR ORDER ANYTHING FOR YOUR HOME!!! NEITHER THE STORE NOR THE DESIGNER ( BART) WILL GET IT CORRECT, THE EXPEDITOR (CLAUDIA) WILL NOT KEEP YOU INFORMED, AND THE STORE MANAGER (MARGO) DOESN'T CARE ENOUGH ABOUT ANY OF IT TO CONTACT YOU EVEN AFTER YOU HAVE FILED A CORPORATE COMPLAINT!!!!!!

Home Depot Inc. is great. I like it there. I can find everything I need. Their service is fine.

Amazingly, these stores are usually better than other big box competitors in this area. This Home Depot seems particularly good; they served my needs. People walk by and ask if they can help you but I have not done work with anyone in their appliance area.

It went great, I love the counter top. They arrived on time, didn't leave a mess, it looks good and it's exactly what I wanted.
