BUZZ CUSTOM CONSTRUCTION

This contractor was the worst experience I have ever had with a contractor; and I have had many. I obtained multiple estimates for a turnkey deck replacement and Buzz Custom construction was actually the highest bid. The contractor states that he is a Master carpenter and that his work is superior to others and I bought this since I wanted a top quality hardwood deck that would outlive the home it was attached to. Bottom line is that this contractor charged for every possible thing that I believe should have been included in turnkey estimate. For instance, he charged extra for equipment to remove the existing deck posts (if a contractor bids on a project then I believe he should have tools to complete the job). He asked if he could remove a pool fence which was below the deck to make his work easier. After he removed the pool fence then he wanted to charge to put back the fence he removed. The contractor designed and built the deck such that you would hit your head on the roof overhang on one side of the stairs going to the deck. This was clearly unacceptable (and did not meet code). Despite the fact that he designed and built this error, he charged me to take down his error and rebuilt it correctly. He added charges for bottle water for his workers. He charged to install flashing which of course is standard construction technique and required to meet code. At many of the charges mentioned above I complained, and the contractor would make excuses and state that he did not anticipate any additional charges, and then he would come back with additional expenses. The last straw came with his attempt to charge me to replace the pool fence that he had requested to take down to make his work easier. I fired him and had to hire another contractor to complete the job.
