"Thank you for calling ABC P&D LLC. I am badly sadden that you feel that way towards my company. Andy, my estimator (not owner) had a funeral to attend and I (Joe Solis/owner) went in his place. Reading Andy's notes and specs, your spending allowance were not going to meet. The Scope of Work was to remove all popcorn ceiling texture in some areas of the ceiling that were damaged and would need to be floated in order to be re textured right and painted. Install of about 17 sheets of drywall.... tape, float, texture and painted plus a few other items all with spending budget of $3,500? Projects of this size take anywhere from an hour to hour and half. On my arrival there was another contractor (I did't feel I was going to get the time to view the project in the time I needed) and didn't want half guess your project. I've been in the painting industry over 35 years I can walk in and knowing some of your needs I am able to have an estimate not a proposal. Knowing what type of paint, texture,etc.... and how many coats would determine the exact price point. I do apologize I didn't spend the 1-1.5 hours trying to convince you that your project was going to cost lots more than you had in mind but, I had to return to the the project I was working on. On a side note: Please excuse me for smelling like cigarette it is a bad habit and I'm on it to quit. Thank you for bringing it to my attention. "ABC Painting & Drywall takes pride in our professional painting services. Unfortunately, Angie's list ran a promotion listing this job for $99.00 of which they kept $45.00. The fine print did indicate it only applied to Nueces County and [member name removed] was well aware he was outside the service area which in reality is 45 minutes away with traffic from our starting point. The additional $25.00 charge was to cover the drive time (about two hour round trip) and fuel expense which was agreed upon prior to his purchase of this package. The bargain deal listed for two coats of paint which was provided. The coat of primer and one coat of paint was provided as agreed, the deal was not for three coats (one prime and two finish coats). The primer was tinted to the color of the finish so in reality the third coat was not necessary. What was not mentioned by you, was that the furniture was to be moved out (by the customer) and the room was not cleared for quick and easy access. Instead the room had bedroom furniture and cable wires were still connected. ABC Painting & Drywall is not in the habit of short changing customers and will not accept promotions set by other companies just for "value deals". As the customer's expectations are not always met and the company is usually blamed when in reality the deal was provided by a third party. ABC Painting and Drywall is sorry that your satisfaction was not totally met, but we met our end of the contract as stated by Angie's List promotions. Thank you for listing good marks on the other categories. The price normally would have been $300.00 so for $55.00 our company took a loss which was not held against the customer.
